Q:I am in India, just booked a ticket to fly one way to Los Angeles from Hyderabad. I would like to buy anytime cancellation for this flight. We have been living in India but are now relocating to Pasadena CA. My concern about the flight is the health of my elderly mother in Pennsylvania. Is there a flight cancellation policy that I could purchase?

A:
We would not be able to offer you any plans as trip cancellation insurance is not available for a 1 way ticket purchase. Also, the cancel for any reason benefit is only available to U.S. residents.

Q:I'm planning to buy the J1 health insurance "ExchangeGuard Essential" for the period between my arrival date and the first day of work (on which the insurance provided by my workplace begins). My questions are as below: 1. Am I eligible for the above insurance plan? 2. If yes for 1., How should I fill in the Important Dates section for departure and return? Also, I am traveling not from home country (China) but from Europe where I currently work but not permanently reside. Please instruct me on how to proceed with this situation. Thanks!

A:
Please be advised that ExchangeGuard is a suitable plan to meet the J1 requirements in the interim period before your employer coverage begins. We would be unable to advise you on what you consider your home country, only you can decide that. If you are currently residing in Europe and consider where you are living your home country, that is fine. If you are still considering China your home, that is suitable as well. You would have to be the one to make that determination for yourself. Whichever you choose you would need to put the departure date from that specific country and for return date it is suitable to put the day you are wanting to have the coverage expire. If you have additional questions please let us know.

Q:I'm looking for an insurance policy for my mom who'd be visiting from India. I'm seeing some plans when I select the coverage as 'USA & during travel'. Can you confirm if all of they include protection during her travel as well or do I need to look at any particular plans?

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Most of the plan provides coverage USA and during travel. Only some plan provides coverage only in US. There is no additional premium to cover travelling time. If you purchase comprehensive plan covers any medical problem during travel, lost luggage secondary to any benefits you get from airline, evacuation, flight accident etc. If you provide your mother's age, travel dates, which state do you need coverage and will be glad to send you quote by e-mail. Alternatively, you may also get quotes and view plans here. Please enter appropriate criteria. You will find many plans and you can also compare them side by side. Please let us know if you need any further clarification.

Q:Thank you very much for your prompt reply. Just a quick question: When I fill out the J insurance acknowledgement form by my hosting university, which one should I put down as the Name of Health Insurance Provider? Is it International Medical Group (IMG), Sirius, The First Health Network, or something else? Please kindly advise, and thanks in advance.

A:
Your insurance provider would be IMG or International Medical Group.

Q:Self and spouse wish to travel/visit U S A for two months starting April/ May 2020. My self and my spouse wish to travel/visit the US for two months in April/May 2020. We are 76 and 68 years old and wish to know if we are eligible for medical coverage at our age. If so, are pre-existing conditions covered and are there any limitations?

A:
Please be advised that it will not be an issue purchasing a visitors insurance plan, but due to yourself and spouse being different ages at the time the insurance coverage is active you would be unable to be under the same application. This does not mean that you would need to purchase separate plans, but that you would need to do two separate applications due to the age group restrictions. As far as pre-existing conditions go, there is no coverage available on the market for visitors at this point in time. All the plans on the market are meant to cover new injuries and new illnesses that would manifest after the policy effective date. Nothing pre-existing, preventative or routine is covered under any of the plans. There is however a benefit for the Acute Onset of Pre-Existing Conditions available under some plans that you might find interesting. Below are the links regarding the information for that benefit: My recommendation for both of you would be purchase the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan. You will be able to view that plan as well as get quotes here.

Q:My Grand Mother ( in a very good shape ) is visiting me during the holidays I want to get her a medical insurance from October 10, 2019 till February 29 2020 she is from Colombia age about 90 years old. Can i find a plan to cover her? I live in Las Vegas, NV.

A:
We do have plans that can provide coverage to visitors (people traveling to the U.S. on the B2 visitor visa), for new illnesses and new injuries that occur of manifest after the effective date. They will have limited policy maximums available because of her age. You can run a quote through here with her specific criteria, but you will need to choose the policy maximum range of $10,000-$25,000. It will then show you all of the plans that would be available to her. If she is traveling to the U.S. on anything other than a B2 visa, please let us know so that we may advise accordingly.
