Q:I have my parents visiting US for 5 months. I want to have their insurance. My mother have issue with nerve and bone so I want to take her to specialist visit. Is there any insurance plan that covers her to take to doctor?

A:
There is not an insurance on the market anywhere that will cover pre-existing conditions for visitors to the U.S. The plans for visitors will cover new injuries and new illnesses that manifest after the effective date of the policy. Anything to do with a pre-existing condition as you have described below would just be out of pocket expenses. Depending on the age of your mother, some plans do have an Acute onset benefit for pre-existing conditions, however this benefit is for sudden and unexpected acute onsets of pre-existing conditions that come on without any warning, are rapidly progressing and require immediate treatment within 24 hours. This benefit is a possibility of coverage for these types of situations and not a guarantee of coverage as it would be based on the attending physicians report at the time of claim. But again, this is for urgent situations requiring immediate treatment so anything where there is time to set up an appointment and go to a doctor for treatment would not qualify under this benefit. Please look at our Visitors Insurance section to view the plans that we offer to cover visitors here in the U.S. You will be able to see which plans also include the Acute onset benefit in the list. I hope this answers your questions. If you have any more or need further assistance, please let us know.

Q:Thank you for sending the quotes. However, I only see quotes for policy maximum of $50,000, and $60,000. Under comprehensive coverage, is that the maximum? Also, my Mom will be staying mostly with me in Saratoga, California. What are the covered PPO network for the plans in this area? For example, is PAMF in the network?

A:
You can click on View/Edit Input Details and from there change the Policy Max to $100,000 to see the plans that offer a higher policy max. For each plan you can click on the name of the network, if the plan has a network, to search for providers.

Q:I'd like to have advice for the following: My husband will go to US on 18 Jan 2017 with a tourist visa. He will then apply US working visa in mid of March 2017. The process may take up to 2 months. If the working visa is successfully, he will not return back to my country. So, my questions are: 1. In case he has a working visa sooner than expected (says, April 2017), and I bought insurance until May 2017. Is the time from April to May still valid since he is no more tourist (but got a working visa) 2. If anything happened, can he still claim and paid while in US without returning back to my country? 3. If he wants to shorten the period after bought insurance, is it possible, any penalty? 4. Is this insurance (Patriot America Insurance) also covered if he traveled to other countries, other than my country, e.g. mexico, Canada?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy. Please see the answers to your questions below. 1.In case he has a working visa sooner than expected (says, April 2017), and I bought insurance until May 2017. Is the time from April to May still valid since he is no more tourist (but got a working visa) This depends on the plan you purchase. We would recommend purchasing the Patriot America Plus plan for him as this plan will provide coverage for someone on a visitors or work visa. This plan will provide coverage until he is eligible to purchase insurance from his employer. 2. If anything happened, can he still claim and paid while in US without returning back to my country? All the plans on our website are administrated by companies located here in the U.S. He can process a claim online, or download a form from the current clients section of our website and return this to the claims department directly. There is no requirement for him to return to his home country and file a claim. 3. If he wants to shorten the period after bought insurance, is it possible, any penalty? You may cancel the policy Patriot America Plus plan after the effective date. You would receive a pro-rated refund for the unused portion minus a $50.00 cancellation as long as no claims have been filed since the effective date. 4. Is this insurance (Patriot America Insurance) also covered if he travelled to other countries, other than my country, e.g. mexico, canada? The Patriot America Plus plan will provide coverage to the insured anywhere outside of his home country. If you have any additional questions please let us know. Q:My parents 83 and 82 are arriving to the US from Venezuela by mid January. They will be coming as a visitor and will be becoming US resident once they arrive in the US. They will spend in the US about 5 months. We will need to have them insured against any sudden accidents and/or sickness that may occur while in the US. I've been researching your website but not quite sure how would you classify them for quote purposes. Please advise if this coverage can be bought online.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. If they are getting their green card when they arrive then you can review the plans in the New Immigrant section of our website. The plans will cover any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date and will not cover any pre-existing conditions, preventative care, or routine maintenance. There are two types of plans you can choose from. There are fixed coverage plans and comprehensive coverage plans. The fixed coverage plans are basic plans that pay a fixed amount according to a schedule of benefits and if anything happens the majority of the cost will come from your pocket. The comprehensive plans will pay a percentage but because of their age will have a higher deductible to meet before the plan begins to pay. The majority of the plans can be purchased online. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office. Links for additional information: Visitors Insurance New Immigrant Insurance
