Q:I'm a student at Harvard looking to purchase health insurance compliant with Massachusetts regulations. I've got an F-1 visa and first entered the U.S. in September 2018. I'm also attaching a checklist of requirements - lines under the red header (Part A) are mandatory. Could you a please advise on a minimum plan that meets these requirements? Thank you!

A:
The available plans do not meet the requirements as listed. You would need to purchase the plan the university offers to be able to meet their requirements. Your university requires you to have a plan that covers preventative care, preexisting conditions among other items which these plans do not. They need to meet Massachusetts requirements which these plan are exempt from those standards.

Q:I am looking for insurance for parents who are traveling to US 80 + years old. Do you have plans available for them?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The available plans can be found in the Visitor to USA section of our website; because of their age the options will be limited. We would recommend the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I am in India, just booked a ticket to fly one way to Los Angeles from Hyderabad. I would like to buy anytime cancellation for this flight. We have been living in India but are now relocating to Pasadena CA. My concern about the flight is the health of my elderly mother in Pennsylvania. Is there a flight cancellation policy that I could purchase?

A:
We would not be able to offer you any plans as trip cancellation insurance is not available for a 1 way ticket purchase. Also, the cancel for any reason benefit is only available to U.S. residents.

Q:I'm planning to buy the J1 health insurance "ExchangeGuard Essential" for the period between my arrival date and the first day of work (on which the insurance provided by my workplace begins). My questions are as below: 1. Am I eligible for the above insurance plan? 2. If yes for 1., How should I fill in the Important Dates section for departure and return? Also, I am traveling not from home country (China) but from Europe where I currently work but not permanently reside. Please instruct me on how to proceed with this situation. Thanks!

A:
Please be advised that ExchangeGuard is a suitable plan to meet the J1 requirements in the interim period before your employer coverage begins. We would be unable to advise you on what you consider your home country, only you can decide that. If you are currently residing in Europe and consider where you are living your home country, that is fine. If you are still considering China your home, that is suitable as well. You would have to be the one to make that determination for yourself. Whichever you choose you would need to put the departure date from that specific country and for return date it is suitable to put the day you are wanting to have the coverage expire. If you have additional questions please let us know.
