Q:considering current Covid-19 situation, we don't know the exact duration of the extended stay. Because we will buy return ticket as soon as travel ban is lifted. So how many times can i extend one insurance policy?

A:
Different plans will have their own specific extension guidelines. Your plan specifically can be renewed for up to 2 years and there is not a limit on the number of times within that 2 years you can renew. It also does not have a renewal fee so each time you renew you are just paying for the number of days you are requesting to extend. As long as the insured is on a valid B2 visitor visa you should be fine renewing the plan until the travel ban is lifted.

Q:My mother traveled to USA from India on Feb 13, 2020 with Trawick International's Safe Travels USA plan purchased prior to her trip. 1) Does her plan cover COVID-19 related illness? 2) If she extends her stay in the US, and therefore her current travel medical plan, does she get COVID-19 coverage during the extension period? Thank you!

A:
Safe Travels USA plan does not have any exclusion related to COVID-19 or CDC warnings. Therefore, it would cover COVID-19 just like any other sickness that occurs after the effective date of the policy. Even if you extend the coverage, she will continue to maintain the same coverage.

Q:In response to my previous mail reg taking student insurance to cover gap period (2months) between changing educational level for an international student already in US, I was advised to take Exchange Guard Policy. When I am entering applicant details, one of the fields is asking date of departure from home country and also date of return, as if it is a travel policy. I have following questions before making payment. 1. Can I give July 2018 (actual date left Home country) and Return-Jun 2023 ( Visa expiry)? 2. As the words suggest it to be a travel policy, does it cover the 2 month period of stay in US (Jun-Jul 2020) being gap period due to change of educational levels (since already in US and would be attending Fall 2020)..please confirm. Sorry for seeking re-confirmation.

A:
You are eligible to purchase ExchangeGuard. Date of departure should be your latest entry date in US. Date of return should be end of you policy duration or your visa expiration date. It does not matter. If you pay for 2 months of policy it will be valid for that duration. You can extend the policy before the expiration date. Please read eligibility in the certificate wording on page 5 under member eligibility.
