Q:I am a visiting scholar in University of South Florida (J-1 visa). I am trying to purchase an insurance plan on insubuy but I am not sure if the plan meets the requirement for the school. Could you please help me check it? The plan must have medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness, repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000, expenses associated with the medical evacuation of the exchange visitor to home country in the amount of $50,000, & a deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness. By the way, I am wondering if it is possible to start the insurance from 03/15/2016 since the school requires to start insurance from the date of entrance. Thanks for your help.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. WE can start policy today but NOT from 03/15. You can purchase Atlas America plan which meets all your school requirements and you can start coverage from 03/16. Please review this and if you have any further questions feel free to contact us. You can find more plans for J1 visa in our J visa insurance section.

Q:I am bringing my parents to the US on March 29. My father is 79 years now and he will be turning 80 years on March 30. When I search on Insubuy website for a suitable insurance plan for him, should I give his age as 79 or 80? If I buy an insurance plan for my father with his age as 79 and after his arrival in the US ,he turns 80 and I go to a doctor, will he still be eligible for all the coverage his insurance plan qualifies?

A:
If you purchase the plan before his 80th birthday then you would enter his age as 79. The plan we would recommend is the Patriot America plan. If you purchase the plan while he is 79 he will keep the same coverage for the duration of the plan. If you renew the plan he will then be treated as 80 and the coverage will reduce and the price will increase. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:Insurance for visiting mother age 72 years for 6 months from 18th March to August 26th 2016. She arrived in usa on 2nd March 2016.

A:
We have several plans for your mother that will cover any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date of the policy. The plan I would recommend is the Atlas America plan. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:Would it be possible for this plan to be primary and one bought in India be secondary. Also, do you know, how dependable is a plan bought in India especially with United India?

A:
These plans will always pay secondary to any other insurance. We are not very familiar with this particular company specifically. Please see the link listed below to a FAQ about purchasing from India vs the U.S.. Purchasing from India vs U.S Comparison
