Q:I am in the U.S. on a K1 visa and am applying for a green card. Arrived in the United States on Sept. 1/2022 and was married on Sept. 2/2022. I have been to the lawyer on Sept. 23/2022 and have a second appointment on Sept. 28/2022 to finalize the green card process and mail it. I cannot go on my husband's plan which is Medicare and Tricare for Life for one year therefore I need a Health Insurance Plan to be covered for one year.

A:
We have a short term plan that if available in your state we would recommend. (You will have to check the Geographic restrictions link to see if it is available in your area) /short-term-health-insurance/ However, once you have a social security number and/or your greencard, you can enroll into a domestic insurance plan through the HealthCare Exchange in your state. That is what we would recommend first as the plans we offer are meant to be temporary coverage and will have coverage restrictions. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I plan to travel to US and also visit Cancun and Carmen in Mexico. Is the health travel coverage include Cancun and Carmen as well? I am a non-US citizen

A:
Most Travel Medical insurance plans are designed to cover you anywhere outside of your home country and the USA (unless included) . As Cancun and Carmen are both located in Mexico the coverage would be valid in Mexico not by the city. You can find plans that will cover you International in the Travel Outside the USA section of the website.

Q:I am looking for an insurance that fits my 3-month old baby for her routine vaccination and check up, while waiting for her medi-cal application to be approved. She is a U.S. citizen. Please get some suggestion and adivse.

A:
As a United States citizen there is not a international plan that can be purchased to cover preventative care such as immunizations, routine care, well baby checkups or vaccinations . If the baby is a citizen as well as resident and requires coverage in the United States then Domestic insurance would need to be obtained for coverage. If the baby is not a resident of the United States and traveled into the USA from the country of residence then there would not be such and option for coverage and these preventative items would have to be paid for out of pocket.
