Q:Travel insurance for 6 months Hi Insubuy team, I am looking for travel insurance for my spouse(age 27 years) and son (2 years) for 6 months duration to buy from your website. I will be travelling to San diego,CA. Based on the Insubuy website, I had shortlisted Atlas America ($50000) coverage plan. 1) Can you let me know if this suitable? Or would you suggest anything else? 2) Can you confirm if it is a HMO/PPO plan? Will I be able to consult any Paediatrician directly in the network without Co-pay charge? Regards, Concorde24

A:
1. Yes, Atlas America is suitable. 2. It is a PPO plan. You can go to specialist directly. However, there is no concept of copay in short term plan. Please read /atlas-america/visitors-insurance/ to understand how the plan works. Hi Insubuy team, Thanks a lot for your response. 1) I do not have an US credit card/bank & billing address. Can I use my AMEX card with indian billing address for purchasing the policy online? 2) Also if I purchase Atlas America plan, do I need to notify the provider before visiting the doctor or can I directly visit them and show the card to them. Regards, Concorde24 1. Yes, you can use that card. 2. For minor things, you just visit the provider directory. However, for major things, you must inform first. It is called precertification. Please read about precertification in the brochure at /atlas-america/visitor-medical-insurance/ I hope that answers all your questions. If you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. Hi Insubuy Team, Thanks for your prompt help. I had purchased the policy via your website today. Regards.. You are very welcome. If you need any help at any time (even after purchase), please feel free to contact us at any time. hi Insubuy team, Thanks for your excellent help during purchase and modification of the policy. Regards, Concorde24 You are welcome.

Q:VisitorCare Vs Atlast America I am confused between VisitorsCare and Atlas America insurance for 70+ with Pre Existing Condition. For 70+ the Atlas does not cover any pre-existing condition but I am wondering if we should go with Comprehensible plan without any pre existing or should I go with Visitor Care with a $2500 of Pre Existing coverage? Any insight would help with your experiences. Thanks

A:
Visitors Care is a fixed coverage plan and pays only a small portion of the actual medical expenses, even for new medical conditions. Atlas America is a comprehensive coverage plan and provides much better coverage. Please read /visitors-insurance/ to understand the differences. What is the difference between VisitorsCare and Inbound USA? I suggest that you visit https://www.insubuy.com and enter your criteria. You will see both of those plans. Check the boxes next to them and click Compare. You will be able to see the side by side comparison of both of those plans.

Q:Atlas vs Patriot Hi, My parents are going to US for 6 months. I'm going to buy a comprehensive insurance for them from either Atlas or Patriot. After comparison, I still have some questions. 1. For Hospital emergency room (all expenses incurred therein), the comparisons between the two show as below: Atlas:to policy maximum. If subsequently not admitted for further treatment of sickness. treatment is covered, but room charges not covered. Patriot: to policy maximum. Extra $250 deductible/visit is ER visit for a sickness (not injury/accident) does not result in direct hospital admission. For Atlas, does it mean that in the case of hospital emergency room occupation without admission subsequently, I need to pay for the room charges by myself? what's the common price range for such room charges? I also checked the Atlas exclusions, it lists " charges for use of emergency room within the US for treatment of illness unless the patient is directly admitted to the hospital as inpatient for further treatment of that illness (does not apply to injuries)". I feel so confused for Atlas. Does it mean all of the charges (treatment + room charges + other fares) for use of emergency room are excluded unless the patient is directly admitted? or the treatment is covered but the room charges not covered? 2. Co-insurance: Atlas: In U.S./Canada: After deducible, you pay 20% of the first $5000 in covered expenses, rest covered at 100% up to selected policy maximum. Coinsurance waived if expenses are incurred within PPO provider bills directly to Underwriter. For example, I searched the health Care Provider on the website of first health PPO within US which is the provider for Atlas. I found the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center is listed there. But it only means the hospital accepts the First Health network. How can I make sure whether that hospital can bill directly to Underwriter? 3. Hospital room and board including miscellaneous: Atlas: To policy maximum, average semi-private room rate, including nursing services Patriot: To policy maximum, average semi-private room. How about the fares for nursing services for Patriot? Thanks!

A:
1. In both the plans, emergency room visit for the sickness works out to be very similar in the most cases. I recommend that you read the section about emergency room at /what-is-visitors-insurance/ It explains this matter in detail. If you still have further questions, please post them here and we would be glad to answer them all. 2. You can search for providers in the PPO network for Atlas plan at /travel-and-student-insurance-ppo-network/ Most providers in the PPO network would directly bill the insurance company. That is why there are there in the network. In about 10 years, I have never heard about any hospital in the U.S. not billing directly. (Not just Atlas plan, but all the plans we sell.) In rare cases, some doctor somewhere (who is in PPO network) may choose not to bill directly, mostly because of lack of understanding of a new receptionist, for example or just for some random unjustified reason. Again that happens rarely in case of PPO plans (which most of the comprehensive plans are). If it does happen, please let us know and we (or PPO) will contact them to clear up any misunderstanding or doubts that they might have. 3. Both plans provide the same coverage in that aspect. It is just that these two plans are from two different companies, developed them mostly indepdently from each other and therefore, there may be some difference in the language. I hope that answers your questions. You can buy either of the plans online at our web site at https://www.insubuy.com If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. Hi Thanks very much for your quick reply! I now understand the policies about the emergency room issues. Another thing is that I tried to figure out if the UCLA Medical Center is a eligible provider within Atlas network. I searched from /travel-and-student-insurance-ppo-network/. When select Provider Type: General Acute Care Hospital, Facility Name: UCLA, Zip Code: 90095, Distance: within 5 Mile. Two results show as Ronald Reagan and Santa Monica UCLA medical center. However when the Provider Type is changed to Emergency care, and Facility Name left blank, the other options keep the same. The two UCLA centers are not on the list. Does it mean that UCLA medical center is not within the Atlas network when dealing in Emergency Cares? Thanks very much! If the hospital is in the network and they have emergency room, that is also in the network. The reason it may not show up in one vs other category is simply because finally it is a database with categories and whichever way the data entry was done and the category was assigned is how the search results are displayed.

Q:Health Insurance - Heart Disease Hi My father-in-law had a heart attack 3 yrs back and has undergone a by-pass surgery. He is planning to visit us in US. Is there any medical insurance available that will cover emergency hospitalization expenses such as heart attack . Pls suggest. Thanks.

A:
How old is he? What state is he coming to? Around 64. We are in Illinois. Consider purchasing either Atlas America Insurance or Liaison Continent Insurance. Both of them will cover up to $15,000 in acute onset of pre-existing conditions for people below the age of 70 years. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. Consider purchasing either Atlas America Insurance or Liaison Continent Insurance. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. How about for people above the age of 70 years? My dad is in a similar situation. Please advice Practically, there is no plan that would cover acute onset of pre-existing conditions for people of the age 70 years and above. However, look at /pre-existing-conditions-coverage-visitors-health-insurance/ You will see Inbound USA and Visitors Care. They cover up to $3,000 or $2,500 respectively if the person is admitted into the hospital due to heart or stroke that is due to pre-existing conditions. Please note that both are fixed coverage plans and pay only a portion of the actual expenses even for new medical conditions. We always recommend everyone to buy comprehensive coverage plans only. So is there any plan that can cover cancer as a pre existing condition. Ofcourse just the onset in case something comes up. Please advice. No. Unlike heart attack type situation, in most cases, you don't need immediate treatment for cancer. In almost all cases, if cancer is detected and is pre-existing condition, you can just put the person in the plane to their home country and can get treated there. No. Unlike heart attack type situation, in most cases, you don't need immediate treatment for cancer. In almost all cases, if cancer is detected and is pre-existing condition, you can just put the person in the plane to their home country and can get treated there. Very true. But here is a situation that could come up with my dad. He is a prostate cancer patient who had undergone radiation for the same and is doing fine now. It is possible that he might get little pain or some kind of stinging sensation while urinating something like UTI in ladies for which the urologist may need to prescribe some medication if needed. This is currently not happening but had happened sometime in the past when he was undergoing radiation. So in case such pain arises will it be covered under the pre-existing condition or not? If Yes based on the acute onset of pre-existing condition then which one would you recommend? He is 70+. Please advise. Thank you. There is no plan available anywhere in the market that would cover that. You will have to pay for those expenses yourself. Before deciding to invite him, that is what you will have to decide whether you are willing to pay for those expenses yourself or not.

Q:Need Help in deciding Insurance My Mom Will be Visiting me This Weekend (she will be here for 6 months). I am Confused on Which USA Insurance to Go with. Comprehensive or Fixed.. ? I have Finalised two Insurance Plans of IMG to choose from (Patriot america and Visitors Care) But wanted a Clarification, My Mother is Having BP (controlled) and was checking if any complication rises (god forbid) due to BP. Patriot america may not help as compared to visitors care as it says pre existing conditions are not covered... please help me to understand in my situation which is the Best Insurance I should be going with. Please suggest if you think any other Insurance is Good to be Purchased. She Had a General Checkup recently and Everything thing Looks under control. Please reply ASAP. Thanks Ramya

A:
Ramya, Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance. First, I would like to clarify that Visitors Care has an optional rider that would cover up to $5,000 ($2,500 for 70+) if the person gets admitted into the hospital due to heart attack or stroke that is due to pre-existing conditions. There is no other pre-existing conditions coverage in Visitors Care. While both Patriot America and Visitors Care are excellent plans, they don't cover any pre-existing conditions (other than as described above for Visitors Care.) We always recommend everyone to purchase the comprehensive coverage plans and never the fixed coverage plan. Patriot America is a comprehensive coverage plan while Visitors Care is a fixed coverage plan. If your mother is below the age of 70 years, you can consider purchasing Atlas America insurance that provides up to $15,000 in acute onset of pre-existing conditions and is not limited to admitance into the hospital due to heart attack or stroke. Therefore, regarding emergencies arising from blood pressure, that might be more suitable to you. Alternatively, if your mother is below the age of 65 years, and if you are willing to buy a minimum of $1,000,000 policy maximum, you can consider purchasing Patriot Platinum America Insurance that covers up to $20,000 in acute onset of pre-existing conditions. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at (866) INSU-BUY at any time. Thank you So Much! I have decided to go with Atlas America.
