Q:Hello, I'm covered by Atlas International Insurance Premium. My certificate number is 120053279. Today I got mugged and my personal belongings - new phone has been stolen. I filed a police report. Does it fall under the category of Crisis response/ loss of personal belongings? How can I file the claim? Thank you!

A:
The below situation would not be something that would fall under the Crisis response benefit, and the plan does not include benefits for loss of personal belongings. It offers benefits for lost checked luggage if lost through an airline or travel carrier. However, we would advise that you contact the claims department to advise of your situation as the plan does offer benefits for loss of documents such as your passport, and they would also be able to advise of any other coverages that might apply to your situation. Their direct # is 1-800-605-2282. You will just provide to them your policy certificate #. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I have purchased a cruise, in full, that was to take place in Feb 2021. However, it has been adjusted to a land based trip, in May. Is there any way to get travel insurance now, in case we are not able to travel at that time or it gets cancelled due to Covid or other reasons?

A:
When you say cancelled due to COVID, it would have to be you getting sick enough from COVID that your doctor certifies that you can't travel. Cancellations for other COVID related reasons that affects mass population, you feared of going etc. are not covered. Cancel for any reason travel insurance is not available to you at this time. You can look at travel insurance plans.

Q:My parents have palnned to visit the USA for a 6 months duration. It has been a month since they t recoverd from the covid-19. Adding to this they have pre-exsisitng heatlth conditions - sugar and bp. can you suggest a plan from teh health insurance

A:
We would recommend looking for a plan in the COVID-19 Travel Medical Insurance section of our website. These plans are designed to cover the new injuries and illnesses that manifest in the body after the effective date of the policy, They will not cover the pre-existing conditions, preventative or routine care. The plans in this section include coverage for COVID-19, meaning they will cover the illness as long as it were to manifest in the body after the effective date of the policy. Should you have additional questions you may also call our office at (866) 467-8289.

Would your insurance cover me while I rent in Iowa even though I live in CA ? I have medical insurance but only for my local CA doctors.

A:
Thank you for reaching out. If you are looking for medical benefits that will cover outside your resident state, you would want to purchase a plan from our Travel Insurance section. Q:I am on H4 visa and planning to apply for EAD. I have health insurance through my spouse's employer who is on H1b. I have a pre existing medical condition and all the medical expenses are covered using that insurance. My question is that if I get my H4 EAD and a social security number, would I be able to use the same health insurance or would I need to buy a separate health insurance policy from a different company?

A:
The plans available on the market will cover the new illnesses and injuries that manifest in the body after the effective date of the policy. They will exclude coverage for pre-existing conditions, preventative and routine care. The plan you are describing sounds like a domestic plan and if you are able to maintain coverage under that plan we would recommend it as those types of plans will cover much more than these. You would need to verify with your current insurance if an EAD or SSN will have an effect on your coverage, as we are not your insurance carrier. Should you have additional question please let us know. You may also call our office at (866) 467-8289.
