Q:My father is planning to visit me in the US (he is French). He has an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD ) and an artificial heart valve. I would like to know if he could be eligible on the acute onset of pre-existing conditions in VisitorSecure. What are the documents needed? He is in France. Thank you

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. With the Visitors Secure plan the Acute Onset benefit is available for visitors under the age of 70. Keep in mind, that plan is a fixed coverage plan so even the Acute Onset benefit would be paid according to the schedule of benefits so the majority of the cost would come from your pocket if anything happens. No documents would be needed when you purchase. If anything happens the claims department would make their determination based on the medical records at the time. If something happens related to this condition it would have to meet the definition of the Acute Onset to have coverage. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I am currently abroad in the USA on exchange student status (J-1) visa and have been here for around three weeks. I am looking into purchasing additional health insurance which offers better coverage, specifically the patriot exchange program, and was wondering how "country of residence" is defined. I am unable to select the USA. Would I be able to select my country of citizenship as my country of residence?

A:
That is not USA. That should be the country where you lived before coming here 3 weeks ago. You can purchase it online at /patriot-exchange-program-insurance/

Q:I am looking for visitors insurance (including health) in USA & International travel for citizens of India ages 76 and 70. Coverage: $1 M for each person including pre-existing. Deductible: Possible options. Insurance type: Comprehensive. Please let me know if you can assist.

A:
The plan we would recommend is the Atlas America since they will offer a $250,000 policy max for someone in their seventies. A:
There should not be any problem. Most of the insurance companies know how co-ordination of benefits works. We are not involved in day to day claim details because of HIPAA federal rule. Q:My office has given minimal travel insurance which is low. Can I still purchase Atlas international as it gives me more coverage amount. Basically is having multiple insurance policies okay?

A:
Yes. You can purchase Atlas International insurance. Your office insurance most likely doesn't provide coverage for evacuation and repatriation. Do you need single trip insurance or multi trip insurance. Atlas Multi Trip Insurance Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
