Q:I'm an international student from Colombia, I'm starting a master at Temple University in Philadelphia. I'm going to be here for a year. I was wondering if you could help find the best option for me. (I have a J2 Visa) "In terms of insurance, Temple University requires that all international students in Non-immigrant Student (F1 or J1) status maintain health insurance that meets certain minimum standards as determined by the United States Department of State. The minimum health insurance coverage as determined by the Department of State is as follows" - A maximum deductible of U.S. $500 per accident or illness - Payment of at least 75% of covered expenses - Medical benefits of at least U.S. $100,000 per accident or illness - Repatriation benefits of at least U.S. $25,000 (temple.edu/hr/students/medex.htm) - Medical evacuation benefits of at least U.S. $50,000 (temple.edu/hr/students/medex.htm)

A:
Any of the plans in our J1/J2 Visa section will meet the standard requirements. If your university has any additional requirements, please forward those to us and we can review them for you.

Q:My mother and I are travelling to the US in December and we would like to purchase US travel/medical insurance for our trip. She is 84 years old and has pre-existing medical conditions. I am 61 and have no pre-existing medical conditions. My mothers' are managed with oral medication and she hasn't had any related medical emergencies or treatments for them in the last 3 years. I understand that she can't be covered for ongoing treatments for these but can be covered in the event of an "Acute onset of a pre-existing medical condition" which I understand to mean she would be covered if something unexpected happened that was related to one of her pre-existing conditions. I would be grateful if you could confirm this. My other questions are: We will be travelling to the US aboard the Queen Mary 2 from the UK. Would this insurance cover us for this part of the trip? Would this insurance cover us for cancellation of our trip due to an "acute onset of any of her pre-existing medical conditions"? We have taken advice from our UK based Doctor and he has confirmed that she is fit for travel. If it helps our travel plans and dates are as follows 15th December 2019 - Queen Mary 2 - 7 nights crossing from UK (Southampton) to US (New York) 22nd December 2019 - arrive New York - 6 nights at the Grand Hyatt 26th December 2019 - Fly Virgin Atlantic overnight New York to London arriving 27th. Any information you can provide would be much appreciated

As long as your bank allows for foreign transactions the it would be fine. The plans are all in US dollars and any funds collected would be transferred into the same.
