Q:My mom just had radical mastectomy and also completed her 4 sessions of IV chemo. She is now doing chemo via pills. Will she quality under acute onset of pre-existing conditions if something happens when she gets here? Will it also apply to any medical condition that will appear that she has not been officially diagnosed yet?

A:
Plans will provide coverage for new accidents and illnesses that did not exist on the effective date of the policy. The Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition coverage is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition(s) which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of a Physicians commendations or symptoms, is of short duration, is rapidly progressive and requires immediate care. The Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition must occur after the Effective date of the policy. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence. A Pre-Existing Condition that is chronic or congenital condition or that gradually becomes worse over time will not be considered an Acute Onset. This benefit does not include coverage for known, scheduled, required, or expected medical care, drugs or Treatments existent or necessary prior to the Effective Date of coverage.

Will I be able to get and use the HTH worldwide travel gap excursion plan on my cruise to Portugal? If so am I required to use only plan in network doctors or can any doctor including the cruise doctor be used and costs covered? In the PPO plans, which most are, is there a cost of I go to a non participating provider (such as the cruise ship doctor)? What if I choose zero deductible is there still a cost for a non participating provicer?

A:
