Q:My father is travelling from India to USA for 12 days. He has a heart condition I would like to know what kind of insurance he should buy.

A:
Before we suggest any plan would like to know his age, travel date and which state does he need coverage? Once we get information will be glad to advise some plan and send quote by e-mail. As a broker we provide insurance from most of the major plans available in US Market.. But keep in mind there is no short term insurance for an international visitor which covers pre-existing conditions. However, some plan has acute onset of pre-existing conditions for age below 70yrs. Acute Onset FAQ Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Q:The plan I am planning to purchase is with Atlas America, I think it is called Atlas Travel. I called you at your office and I was told I could renew it for up to 5 years. I am interested in one with 50000$ "Overall Maximum Limit per Certificate Period", 0$ deductible, 0% co-insurance. According to the on-line quote I got, it was around 108$ per month.

A:
The Atlas America plan is actually renewable for 364 days so the policy max is for up to 364 days. After the 364 days you can repurchase the same plan for another 364 days which will start the policy max over for the new term. You will want to verify with your school if they have any requirements that need to be met before you purchase any plan. These plans are not Affordable Care Act compliant so if you are required to file taxes while you are in the US then you may be subject to a tax penalty for not having an ACA compliant plan. If you need additional clarification please feel free to contact our office again.

Q:I'll be starting the policy from 4/14, my mom's age at the time will be 59 yrs but she will be 60 on 4/20. Is there any where in the prospectus that says that a policy needs to be changed when the policy holder moves to a different age group during the coverage period ?

A:
The coverage would not change for your mother when she goes from 59 to 60 but the premium would increase with most plans upon renewal. For example, if you purchase for one month you would pay the premium for a 59 year old. If you renew the policy the next month you would then be charged a higher premium based on the current age of 60. If you instead purchase the plan for the full duration then that would lock in the premium for a 59 year old for the full duration. She would not have to change plans at any point. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.
