My previous International Health Insurance expired more than 30 days ago and I never claimed anything in 2 years.

Due to my foreign status they require me to have a] insurance that would pay at least $50,000 annually for medical evacuation b] insurance that would pay at least $25,000 for repatriation of remains. Can you direct me to a plan that covers just this as all other needs are met by my work-related health plan?

Q:My wife and I have been in France for the past month and are in the process of trying to get a residence permit. For this we require a bunch of documents, one of them being health coverage - currently we have our US plan but that's it. Is it possible in the current situation with Covid-19 that we can still get a policy for a year? I understand from an article on your website that as we didn't leave France after it became a level 3 advisory we wouldn't get coverage if we went down with Covid-19 but would we still be able to be covered for anything else?

Q:My parents are currently visiting US and I'm considering if I should extend their travel insurance. I was wondering if you could help me identify if they are covered for coronavirus? They are using the Atlas America plan. My mother came to US on about 11/31/2019, and my father 12/31/2019. They both came from Wuhan, Hubei, but they were both good (with no claims) until now. Due to the changing situation in the world I want to know if their insurance cover them for coronavirus now? I really appreciate your help!

A:
As of March 11, 2020, in most visitors insurance plans (including Atlas America) for the U.S., there is no specific exclusion for coronavirus. Therefore, if you are infected with coronavirus while visiting the U.S., it would be treated just like any other illness, and subject to the general terms and conditions of the policy. Exception: PIU plan called 'International Major Medical' specifically excludes coverage for the coronavirus. This situation is changing very fast. Therefore, before making any decisions based on this answer, make sure to confirm the most recent situation For more information you may also refer to this link.
