Q:Medical malpractice insurance Hello there! I am a medical student in the 5th year at a romanian medical school, and also at a german medical school (in Europe you have the possibility to participate at 2 MD programs offered by universities from the European Union - my base university is in Romania, Cluj-Napoca but I studied one year in Germany - Berlin, too, and I could study there the 6th year too). I will attend a clinical clerkship (emergency medicine and surgery) for 2 months in USA at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, North Chicago, USA. This would be my 4th summer in the US, last 3 times I participated at Work & Travel Programms. One of their requirements is a malpractice insurance. The are minimum limits that I must be insured for also - $1 million per occurrence/$3 million in aggregate. I was told that you could help in this matter. What would the financial conditions and what are the requiremens for me in order to buy an insurance like this ??? If you can't help would yu pleas, if possible, direct my e-mail to someone who can, or send me their address. Thank you very much and have a nice day ! Truly yours,

Q:Blue Cross of California - Short Term Health Insurance I was looking at the Blue Cross PPO short term health insurance program and have a question about what qualifies residency. My daughter has been a college student in Germany for the past 5 years and has German insurance. She's coming back to California (her original birth place and original place of residency) this summer and found out that her German health insurance will not cover her while in the U.S. because she's a U.S. citizen. I've checked on travel insurances and they require that the travel is outside of one's home country. Blue Cross says that you must be a permanent legal resident. She's living in Germany now and plans to stay, even through she's a U.S. citizen. I'm a little confused about the definition of "residency"...could you please clarify this for me and make any suggestions concerning getting her short-term health insurance coverage while she's in the states this summer?

A:
If you are US citizen in California, you qualify for Blue Cross of California, even if you had been living outside US for some time. You can purchase it online at https://www.insubuy.com

Q:Domestic insurance for new immigrants with diabetes I have couple of questions regarding my earlier communication with you. My parents have been in US for about 4 months on Green Card and they are currently insured with Protection America. I looked through the Assurant health brochure from the link you provided earlier. I see that they cover the pre-existing conditions after being with them for 12 months. My Mom is diabetic and my dad has a cholestorol problem. I am wondering if I switch to Assurant health, would my parents be covered for any problems related to cholestorol or diabetes after the 12 months? Since they are on their Green Card, they will be staying with me for long time here in US. Could you please advice me on what to do? I am willing to pay any insurance expenses. Are there any local insurance companies like Anthem, CIGNA that would cover preexisting conditions as well? How are they compared to Auurant health? what are my best options available? Thanks a lot,

A:
If a person has diabetes, he/she will be declined insurance in most companies like Assurant, Aetna, Humana, Anthem etc. No insurance for her from domestic insurance companies. Jan a person has diabetes, he/she will be declined insurance in most companies like Assurant, Aetna, Humana, Anthem etc. No insurance for her from domestic insurance companies. I am going to USA in jan 2015 for masters and I am diabetic. I would like to know about any insurance companies that insur non USA residents with diabetes. Q:New immigrants to Virginia I’m programming (I’m 74 yrs. old), with my wife (66 yrs. old) to move, starting from 2008, to your Country, and precisely to the Fairfax County â€" Virginia, to live there with our only son, who, with his family, lives and works a long time in the U.S. : he is now an American citizen. It is a demanding decision for us (we are both retired) that causes many problems, but it gives confidence for our being elderly, with no more family relations in Italy. We are Italian citizens (we come from Venice / North-Eastern Italy), we enjoy a reasonable state of health and we now follow the procedures to get the Green Card. Having said this, knowing your competence and experience, we will be grateful for every suggestion and advice you will think right to give us, with special regard to our age and to being retired. Naturally, one of the our serious worries is to get information about health insurance we could comply with. I apologize for my English.
