Q:My father had a massive stroke yesterday and is admitted to John Peter Smith hospital. He's on Cover America - Gold insurance but I wanted to know what are my options going forward?

A:
Please accept our sincerest well wishes for your father. Please be advised that there is not a plan on the market that you can purchase that will cover something that has already happened. Therefore anything that has to do with the stroke would only have coverage if applicable under your current plan. That includes any treatment in the future related to the stroke. If you have additional questions, please let us know.

Q:My employee from Mexico will be returning to Mexico on December 23, 2019. She is here on a TN visa that is valid until October 2020. Could I get an extension of her policy from November 18 through December 23rd?

A:
The plan that she was on is a visitor plan for someone in the U.S. on a B2 visa, not someone working temporarily in the U.S. If she is not eligible for employer coverage, we would recommend obtaining a plan through the Health Care Exchange in the state in which she resides while here, or she would be eligible for our short term plan. I have attached the link for the short term plan for you to review: National General This plan can be purchase for different durations, with a month being the minimum. If you have any questions or need any additional information please let us know

Q:I just bought the insurance, being on OPT, I wanted to know would this insurance be good enough to be shown on my tax forms?

A:
These plans do not meet the requirements to satisfy what is required for taxes. You would have to get a domestic plan that is ACA compliant.

Q:Hello! I have a question for you regarding buying an insurance for my wife. I am an international student on F1 visa and I already have my insurance from the school and I want to buy an insurance for my wife (F2 visa). My question is, can I buy an insurance only for my wife or I have to buy insurance from you as well. Also, when I try to get the quote from your website and filling out the purchase form, it asks me about the residence address and when I put United States, it doesn't give me any option but when I change it to my country of citizenship, it gives me the quote. So, do I need to use my home country address as the residence address and my address in the US as mailing address?

A:
It is not required that you purchase insurance for yourself in order to enroll your wife. There are options for her alone to purchase. As an F visa holder you are not considered to be a resident of the United States so you would use your home country address.
