Q:Hi! I have insurance Patriot America Plus for me and my wife. We are green card holders and we entered the US two months ago (it was our first enter in US). My wife is planning to take a job in the US with W2 contract (through corp2corp). The employer doesn't give any health insurance plans or health benefits. Our Patriot America Plus will end on 10/31. We would like to extend it. Do we eligible to extend it?

A:
You are only eligible for this plan if you are not eligible for domestic insurance. While the employer is not offering coverage, you are able to obtain it through the Health Care Exchange in your state because you are green card holders under the age of 65. You need to contact the Health Care Exchange and sign up for coverage for both of you. They will then give you an effective date the coverage will begin. You can only renew this policy until that start date. For now, you can renew the plan because even though you need to contact the Health Care Exchange now to obtain coverage, it would take them a minimum of 15 days for coverage to start, up to January 1, 2020. Once they let you know the start date, you will know if you need to cancel the Patriot plan, or renew it a little longer. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Q:I am buying an airline ticket from INDIA- USA - INDIA. Travel date is November 6th 2019 to May 1st 2020. Can I buy an insurance for CANCEL FOR ANY REASON? I am a 43 year old Indian citizen.

A:
The trip insurance plans that include Cancel for any reason cannot be for trips longer than 90 days, are only available to U.S. residents, and the plans that do include that benefit, must be purchased within 21 days of the initial trip deposit. Therefore, we would not have any plans available based on your trip information provided.

Q:I would like to inquire about getting a medical coverage once I am in the U.S. Right now I am awaiting for my visa interview which will take place on November 5th in Tashkent Uzbekistan. There is a new requirement for newly arriving immigrants to show proof of their eligibility for medical coverage upon their arrival to the U.S. and I'd like to see what my options are if getting coverage through Anthem.

A:
We would be glad to assist. When going to the interview appointment, you are now required to show proof of coverage for 1 year when applying to enter the U.S. as a new immigrant. I am attaching the links for the plans that will offer 1 full year of coverage that can be purchased based on your situation. Patriot America Insurance Patriot America Plus Insurance Visitors Care Insurance I am not sure if by Anthem, you are referring to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield which is a U.S. domestic insurance, however, you would not be able to apply for that type of coverage until after arrival in the U.S. If once you arrive, you obtain other insurance like Anthem for example, you could then cancel the plan you purchase now with proof of other coverage.

Q:I am travelling to the USA on K1 Fiancee visa on Oct 31, 2019. Based on recommendation from your website, I was trying to buy an insurance plan from Safe travels or Patriot America plus. Upon my arrival, I will get married and file for my green card application. Could I have your advise on Safe travels or Patriot America plus, which one is preferred more for K1 visa holders? While I am trying to fill the application form I need to fill my return date to my home country. Also I do not have a return date. Please advise.

A:
I would be glad to advise. Both offer Acute onset benefits.... Patriot has higher levels of the benefits. here is an information link on acute onset: /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ Safe Travels offers it to the policy maximum like Patriot but if it ends up being a cardiac related acute onset will decrease the benefit to $25,000 With Safe Travels if you stay in network they will waive the deductible, Patriot will not. Patriot uses the United Health Care network, while Safe Travels uses First Health. These are some of the differences between the 2 plans that may help you decide which one you would like to purchase. It does state return or departure date, however, you will just enter in the date for which you need the coverage until. So for example if you are needing the insurance from 11/5-1/20, you would enter 1/20. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
