Q:I want to make sure my emergency medical insurance is good even tho I am not originating from my home country but from mexico and driving through the united states to Canada I have purchased it already but not sure other people telling me not valid

A:
I am not sure who you are referring to as other people, however, below are the answers to your questions. This plan will cover you anywhere outside of your home country for covered expenses. Covered Expenses are defined below: All plans on the market for visitors cover for new illnesses and new injuries that occur or manifest after the effective date. They do not cover things that are preventative routine or pre-existing. Some plans do include Acute onset benefits of pre-existing conditions and I have attached the information link below to explain that benefit option. Therefore if your country of residence is Canada, you will have coverage until you arrive in Canada. It does not matter that you have purchased the plan while in another country. Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Q:I have three questions about insurance buying: 1. Could you please tell me what is 'the waiting period'? 2. ExchangeGuard Choice with 6 months waiting period and ExchangeGuard Essentials with 12 months waiting period what is the difference? 3. Are there any pre-conditions for buying this plan? I don't have any insurance before.

A:
The ExchangeGuard Choice plan has a 6 month waiting period and the ExchangeGuard Essential plan has a waiting period of 12 months for pre-existing conditions. This means that after either 6 or 12 months coverage you will be able to use the benefit of $500 with regard to pre-existing conditions. There are no pre-conditions to purchase.

Q:I am looking for a health insurance that meets the J-1 Visa requirements (indicated below) and will cover doctor visits and blood/urine tests of a person that has a chronic disease. The J-1 requirements are: Minimum Insurance Coverage Insurance shall cover: medical benefits of at least 100,000 dollars per person per accident or illness repatriation of remains in the amount of 25,000 dollars expenses associated with medical evacuation in the amount of 50,000 dollars. Additional Terms A policy secured to fulfill the insurance requirements shall not have a deductible that exceeds 500 dollars per accident or illness and must meet other standards specified in the regulations.

A:
We do offer plans that meet standard J1 requirement, and that can also include some pre-existing condition coverage after a 6 month or 12 month waiting period. However the pre-existing condition coverage available after the plan specific waiting periods, will exclude chronic conditions. Therefore we do not offer any plans that will provide that type of coverage. The only plans we are aware of that could possibly provide some of that type of coverage would be the domestic insurance offered through a university or sponsor. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Q:In USA safe travels there is a limit of 15k for cardiac, for onset of pre existing conditions. And compared to general ICU charges, this cover ll get over within 3 days. In that scenario, can the insurance cover air ambulance to India at least till 25k using the provisions of Medivac.

A:
I want to clarify that the $15,000 for cardiac is for an Acute onset of a pre-existing condition. If something happens due to a pre-existing condition, and it meets the definition of an acute onset, the insured would be eligible for that level of those benefits. That benefit would have nothing to do with anything related to Medical Evacuation benefits. If someone were to fall ill here in the U.S. or become injured Medivac benefits do not automatically transport the insured back to their home country and it is not something that would be requested by the insured. First the Medical evacuation benefit can transport the insured to the nearest medical facility that can appropriately treat them and then if for some reason the attending physician recommended they should be transported back to their home country the insurance company would then review the physician recommendation and determine if it would be appropriate. If the patient can receive appropriate medical treatment here in the U.S. it would be unlikely they would be medically evacuated to their home country. I hope this clarifies these 2 benefits and answers your questions. If you have any additional questions please let us know.
