Q:I have a question about insurance coverage for corona virus related test/treatment/hospital bills. I am thinking of purchasing an insurance plan for international students with OPT F1 visa for my sister. She is from Busan, South Korea, but she has been in the states for the past 2-3 years (not visiting Korea during the period). In this case, I am just wondering just in case if hospital bills related to corona virus illness would be covered by the OPT international student insurances of your company.

A:
We would be glad to advise. The plans do not exclude the Corona virus unless someone's destination country has been issued a level 3 warning. Otherwise, the plans would treat as any other new illness. As long as the illness wasn't manifesting before the effective date of the policy, it could be covered up to the specific plan's benefits. If it was manifesting before the effective date, it would be deemed pre-existing and not covered. However, this situation is rapidly changing. Before making any decisions, please make sure to confirm the latest details with us first. If you have additional questions, please let us know.
