Q:International insurance on OPT My wife is on F1 visa for more than 2 yrs. She is graduating on Jul (25th) this year. My daughter (4 yrs born here) was a dependent on the same university insurance for more than 2 yrs. I have my own insurance being on H1B. (My company only encourages dependent insurance for H4 visa). Our second child is arriving in May and per hospital he will be on mother's insurance for the first month i.e till May end. We have to still research whether the University will allow that child to be part of my wife's insurance till July end. My wife is intending to start her OPT from Aug, worst case scenario is based on the job market she will be forced to take one/two credit for next fall(to maintain status) and continue her job search. In this case university insurance might not be valid for her. Also in this case she might defer OPT to start to post Nov. My question is (for the next 6 months from May or Jul (not sure)) that out of the 3 options for OPT insurance which option might be the best fit for her and considering the new born in equation when is the right time to start it

A:
For any maternity, child birth or child care related expenses, your best option is to continue her university insurance. If you try to buy the insurance from open market, none of that would be covered.

Q:any options for elderly not eligible for free medicare? Hello, I am writing on behalf of myself and some friends, we are ages 67 thru 70. We are quite desperate. We are all American citizens, born here, never in jail or anything like that. We have verified completely that we are not eligible for free Medicare part A, which you must have before you can get B is my understanding. We do not have the necessary social security quarters. We are not poor enough for medicaid, tho our incomes are pretty low. (under $2000 a month) We are willing to pay for private insurance if it isn't too high. The buy in for Medicare Part A is $400 a month, so if it is that high, we can't afford it. I want people to know that the assumption that everyone over 65 gets medicare is dead wrong. I know alot of people who don't get it just in my area, and have met many in other areas. This is a totally neglected group of people. I understand you may want to judge us, but we have always been law abiding, and each story is different, but people can end up in these situations, every story is different. summer.rain

A:
Medicare is not free if you have not working in the US for 10 years.

A:
That is excluded, not covered in any visitors insurance plans. is it not covered with this atlas america plan or is vision not covered in any USA Visitor plan As I mentioned in my previous reply, vision is not covered any of the visitors insurance plans. Q:Health insurance with trip insurance Hi, I recently purchased an Atlas Series health insurance from insubuy.com for my parents who will be visiting me shortly. I was wondering if this health insurance plan covered trip insurance as well? I went through the coverage letter and noticed that the trip interruption does not refer to any coverages for flight interruption due to sickness, or any other emergency. Is that correct? I basically want to ensure that standard travel insurance coverages like flight interruption, baggage lost/delayed, etc are included. I would appreciate if someone could reply. Thanks!

A:
Trip Interruption: If, after you have departed, you learn of the death of a parent, spouse, sibling or child, or you learn of the substantial destruction of your Principal Residence by fire or weather, the Atlas America will provide the following benefit: The cost of an economy, one way air and/or ground transportation ticket for your travel to the area of your Principal Residence; or If, following a covered Emergency Medical Evacuation, the attending Physician states that it is Medically Necessary for your return to your Home Country or to the area from which you were initially evacuated for continuing treatment, recuperation and recovery, the Atlas America will provide the following benefit: The cost of an economy, one-way air and/or ground transportation ticket for your travel from the area where you were hospitalized following the Emergency Medical Evacuation to the area where you were initially evacuated from, or to the terminal serving the area of your Principal Residence. Lost Checked Luggage: In the event your checked luggage is permanently lost by the transportation provider, the Atlas America will provide the following benefit: Up to $250 for replacement of clothes and personal hygiene items, not to exceed $50 for any one item. You must file a formal claim with the transportation provider and submit copies of all claim forms and proof that the transportation provider has paid you its normal reimbursement for the lost checked luggage.

Q:**URGENT**Need advice on Medical Insurance for 10 days + Travel Hello, First of all ...information on this site is just great.. :) -Back ground info. My inlaws are here for the last 5 months, leaving to India in about 15 days. Few days back we took him for a general check up and all looks good. We did not take a medical insurance for them this trip so i paid all expenses out of my pocket. I am just concerned that if something were to happen, we are not presently covered. So...my questions are.. 1) I want to take a medical insurance that will cover them for the next 2 weeks here in the US and his travel to India. Can i get one? 2) If he needs to visit the DR (BP check up etc) again before he leaves for India will those expenses be covered? 3) If there is a need to take X ray, lab , CT scan or go in to Emergency etc will those be covered. What options are out there / any advice. Thank you.

A:
If you didn't buy the insurance for them for last 5 months, why would you like to buy now? Were you not concerned that something could have happened to them in last 5 months as well? Why are you concerned only now, after the general check up? Insurance plans will pay for any new medical conditions, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. It will not cover any pre-existing conditions or preventive check ups. 1. Yes, you can buy. However, depending upon their age, some plans may or may not be available. Just go to the home page, https://www.insubuy.com and enter your criteria. Whatever plans show up is what you can buy. 2. If the Dr visit is for any medical condition that occurs after the effective date of the policy, it would be covered. However, if it is for preventive check up or pre-existing condition like BP check up etc, it would not be covered. 3. Again, all of that would be covered as long as it is for any medical condition that occurs after the effectiv date of the policy. Thanks for your quick reply as always. We have a local health care that provides a Sliding scale insurance that covers his basic Dr visits etc. So there was no need to take another insurance for his travel. More over, he did a complete head to toe check up before he came here, and there was nothing alarming with his health or any pre existing condition. This sliding scale insurance has made changes to its rules this past week. They have added few clauses, that will not cover his lab, or test and any specialized visits. So that got me thinking that i need coverage for the rest of his stay if something comes up. Thanks I see. Please let me know if I can be of any further help. I went ahead and bought Atlas America for 9 days this morning from Insubuy.com. Thanks for your help. I will come back to you in future. Regards. You are welcome and thank you for your business. Please feel free to contact us at any time if we can be of any further help.

Q:Policy for h4 visa Hi, I was purchasing insurance for my wife who is holding H4 visa through Insubuy but recently when I spoke with one of your sales agent, he happened to mention that I cannot take policy for her because that's not a valid one and i should get her a policy through my company where I am getting insurance from. Is this really true? Please confirm on this. I have been trying to get some other insurance for her for the past one month but no luck. the problem in including her under my company policy is not possible because they don't cover maternity. Please advise me on this after you analyse on this case. If you say yes that she can get insurance from Insubuy, please direct me to the page about the policy that I can get for her that covers maternity. or if you say no then please let me know other alternatives. Regards

A:
Everyone that answers the phone call are licensed and experienced insurance agents in the U.S. Everything you are told by our rep is true. If she is eligible to buy the insurance from your employer, she has to get that. She can't buy the insurance plans listed on our web site under visitors or new immigrants section. Anyway, none of those plans cover maternity. Depending upon your state, there may be some domestic plans that may cover maternity. As she is on H4, depending upon the company, she may be eligible for some plans and not others. However, in any case, none of them will accept her if she is already pregnant. Even if she is not pregnant, no plan will cover maternity immediately. There is a waiting period of 6 months to 1 year before she conceives.
