Q:Policy for h4 visa Hi, I was purchasing insurance for my wife who is holding H4 visa through Insubuy but recently when I spoke with one of your sales agent, he happened to mention that I cannot take policy for her because that's not a valid one and i should get her a policy through my company where I am getting insurance from. Is this really true? Please confirm on this. I have been trying to get some other insurance for her for the past one month but no luck. the problem in including her under my company policy is not possible because they don't cover maternity. Please advise me on this after you analyse on this case. If you say yes that she can get insurance from Insubuy, please direct me to the page about the policy that I can get for her that covers maternity. or if you say no then please let me know other alternatives. Regards

A:
Everyone that answers the phone call are licensed and experienced insurance agents in the U.S. Everything you are told by our rep is true. If she is eligible to buy the insurance from your employer, she has to get that. She can't buy the insurance plans listed on our web site under visitors or new immigrants section. Anyway, none of those plans cover maternity. Depending upon your state, there may be some domestic plans that may cover maternity. As she is on H4, depending upon the company, she may be eligible for some plans and not others. However, in any case, none of them will accept her if she is already pregnant. Even if she is not pregnant, no plan will cover maternity immediately. There is a waiting period of 6 months to 1 year before she conceives.

Q:Patriot America for parent aged 70+ Hi, I am planning to buy Patriot America comprehensive insurance for my parents who are coming in Dec 09. My father is 71 and mother is 64. Your website says that for insurer aged 70+ a separate application has to be made. Why is that? If I do that then won't my parents have separate applications and considered as separately insured with different policy numbers? Won't that be a problem when filing for claims? Also if I had to renew their insurance I would have to pay $5 for each of them? Jayeeta

A:
The reason for separate application for 70+ is that only $50,000 policy max is allowed for 70+, while you can buy anywhere from $50,000 to $1,000,000 for age below 70. Separate applications is absolutely no problem. In fact, even if you were able to do it together, we recommend that you do separately because you get more flexibility in terms of renewals, cancellation etc. Otherwise, they would be stuck together. Yes, you would have to pay $5 for each application renewal. Howver, that fee is waived if you renew for 1 month or more.

Q:No way? Hi - thanks for taking the time to answer. I think I am in am impossible situation. My Mother is 82 years old and lives in the UK. I am now a US citizen. Since my fathers death 2 years ago my mother lives on her own and she has visited once since my fathers death for 6 weeks with travelers insurance that I purchased in the UK. I would like her to come and live with me here as she is very lonely. She takes medication for high colesterol, hypothyroid (treatment has been for over 20 years) and high blood pressure. She also has some dementia that she is not medicated for. She had a mastectomy over 7 years ago for breast cancer and did not need chemo. No further issues with the cancer. From what I have read I cannot get health insurance to cover the medications she currently takes as they are all for pre-existing conditions and I would assume that any health problems that come up would not be covered as almost anything that might happen could be related to the prior conditions. Any advice you can give would be appreciated. Thanks

A:
You are right. There is no way. All the problems that she has would be considered pre-existing conditions and not covered by any insurance plan from any company. Please read /new-immigrants-medical-insurance-plans/ to get the understanding of the healthcare situation for elderly new immigrants to the US. The plans she would be eligible to buy are listed at /new-immigrant-insurance/ All of the plans are listed there are meant to cover any completely new medical conditions, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy, no pre-existing conditions coverage. Unfortunately, there is no better solution available.

Q:Visitors Insurance Parents Inbound GuestUSA I am planning to buy Inbound Guest or Inbound USA for my parents. I would like to know the difference between the two, as I see, your preferred is Inbound USA. The only difference I could See right now is one with $45000 Max & Other with $50000 Max as minimum. Ofcourse, the amount paid by the insurance company will be little different as mentioned in their brochure. The interesting thing I found out is by getting a quote on Inbound Guest Plan B ($65000 Max), which shows premium amount of $521.52 for my parents. While, Inbound USA Plan A ($50000 Max), shows me a higer premium with amount of $537.92. Should I choose Guest Plan B over USA Plan A. Please let me know any other differences between these two. Thanks in advance for your help.

A:
Please let me know theier ages and the duration of the insurance as well as the deductible you would like. It was nice talking to you. Based on our conversation, both of us agreed that you had entered a different criteria and therefore getting a different price and that one plan does not provide more coverage at less price. As I described to you over the phone, both the plans provide different policy maximum limits and provide different benefit amounts and therefore the costs are different. Other than, there is no other difference. You would see Inbound USA mentioned more because that plan has been in market for a longer duration.

Q:Which visitors insurance is best for my mother? Thanks for all your help & information that you have already provided on this site. I am planning to buy insurance for my mother age 52 who is going to stay for 6 months in USA. She doesn't have any pre existing problems. I am planning to take either 'Inbound USA Plan A/J' OR 'Immigrant Secure Plan A'. I see that Inbound doesnot have any PPO network, so I think it is better to buy 'Immigrant Secure Insurance Plan A.' Problem here is, I read many threads on this site and found that nobody is talking about Immigrant Secure Insurance. Is there some thing wrong with this Insurance? Please help or suggest me a good plan. Thanks, Poorni, CA.

A:
The reason: Inbound USA plan has been around for around 8 years now. However, Immigrant Secure is very new plan and therefore not popular. Also, the plan name is confusing becuse the plan is not meant for immigrants to the USA but for visitors the USA. Confidential life insurance coverage on related person is not available.

Q:Deductible Question I'm planning to buy insurance for my parents who would be visiting us for 3 months. I've been looking at your site for quite some time (weeks!! your efforts are really appreciated) and my questions is actually answered in one or the other forum posts though quite a bit old would still like to ask it just to be sure that the answers are still valid Father 59Yrs Atlas America 100,000 250500 Deductible Mother 53Yrs Patriot America 100,000 250500 Deductible 1. For both of these plans the deductible is per sickness policy period year 2. Where can I get the complete insurance document (rather than just marketing brochure) Thanks,

A:
1. Per year. Of course, if you buy the insurance for 3 months, it would be for once in that 3 months. If you renew the insurance for another 2 months, the deductible will not start over again. In that case, it would be become once for that entire 5 months. 2. The brochure is not just a marketing brochure. It has quite a lot of information in it. Anyway, you can look at the complete policy documents at /myaccount/PatriotAmerica0109.pdf and at /atlas-travel-insurance/ I hope that answers your questions. If you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. this would be very helpful. #2 - Apologies, if it caused any unintentional offense. Idea was not to downplay role of the brochure, they are very informative. Even if you don't call it a marketing brochure, marketing brochure are essentially for the same purpose...provide all relevant details without bogging down the user with avoidable details. Some times a quick ctr+f on the full policy clears a lot of doubts, hence I requested the same. Thanks a lot for the info. Thanks, Oh no, absolutely no problems and no offense at all. You have the right to know everything in advance about the insurance you are buying and we have the duty and obligation to provide all the information you ask for, as long as we have it. I know what exactly you are saying. I have seen the brochures of some Indian insurance companies and they are exactly that, marketing brochure. They lack critical details like over 55 years of age, they are only fixed coverage plans and not comprehensive coverage plans. We, as a broker, work for you and not for any particular insurance company. We have always been honest, transparent and upfront with all our customers. Therefore, we are glad to provide all the information we can and/or we have. Please feel free to ask us any other questions you may have.
