Q:Expatriate insurance Dear Sir/Madam, I’d like to inquire about global medical insurance for me and my family. We are a family of four: ages 42, 41, 7 and 5. My children and I are U.S. citizens and my husband is an Australian citizen. We currently reside in Hong Kong with no set time period to return to the U.S. I was looking at your coverage online and have a few questions: Is the annual deductible calculated per person or for the whole family? What does ‘50% reduction within PPO’ mean? Does our health insurance carry with us when we travel to other countries or would we need travel insurance if we were to travel outside of Hong Kong? Do you offer a combination of health and travel insurance on an annual basis? Are there any countries in the world excluded from coverage? Many thanks for your assistance.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing Global Medical Insurance for your family. 1. Deductible is per person. GMI Platinum: Maximum 2 deductibles/family GMI Gold and Silver: Maximum 3 deductibles/family 2. That means if you take $500 deductible and you go to the providers within First Health PPO in United States, you only have to pay $250. Doesn't matter outside the US. 3 & 4. There are two options available: Worldwide and Worldwide excluding US/Canada. Therefore, if you take worldwide, it will cover everywhere in the world. If you take worldwide excluding US/Canada, it would cover anywhere outside US/Canada. You can get instant quotes, compare the plans side by side and make an instant purchase online at /expatriate-health-insurance/ Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Q:Citizen secure questions We are considering purchasing CitizenSecureSM International Major Medical Insurance but have a couple of questions. I am 49 and my husband is 52,. We are very active and live in Belize. My husband is British and I am Canadian. Basically, although we live in Belize, we do not actually reside here. Technically we do not reside anywhere and are perpetual tourists. We are self-employed and our business is offshore. We are wildlife photographers and work wherever we happen to be. One of my questions is about repatriation in the event of death. Where would we be repatriated to in this event? Would we be able to nominate a country, ie. Canada? My other question is about the sports coverage. Are any sports not covered if we get the optional sports rider and are their any limits on the activity allowed in any individual sport, ie. heights for skydiving? or depths for scuba diving? or, indeed any others?

A:
The repatriation benefit sends the body to the airport nearest the principal residence. If they have a place in mind where they would like the body to go I would suggest they list that as their principal residence. On a similar note, they have to select somewhere as principal residence and provide us with a mailing address. “Air or ground transportation of bodily remains or ashes to the airport or ground transportation terminal nearest to the Principal Residence of the deceased Member If they purchase the sports rider they do not have exclusions for sports with the exception of professional sports. If they do not purchase the rider the following exclusion is in place: “Injury sustained while taking part in the following activities: a. Amateur Athletics or professional sports or athletic activities, except this does not include Amateur sports or athletic activities which are non-contact and engaged in by the Member solely for leisure, recreational, entertainment or fitness purposes unless such sports or activities are otherwise excluded by this provision; and b. mountaineering where ropes or guides are normally used or at elevations of 4,500 meters or higher; and c. aviation (except when traveling solely as a passenger in a commercial aircraft); and d. hang gliding, sky diving, parachuting or bungee jumping; and e. snow skiing or snowboarding, except for recreational downhill and/or cross country snow skiing or snowboarding (no cover provided whilst skiing away from prepared and marked in-bound territories and/or against the advice of the local ski school or local authoritative body); and f. racing by any animal or motorized vehicle; and g. spelunking; and h. subaqua pursuits involving underwater breathing apparatus unless PADI/NAUI certified, accompanied by a certified instructor, and at depths of less than 10 meters; and i. jet skiing; and j. any other sport or athletic activity which is undertaken for thrill seeking and exposes the Member to abnormal or extraordinary risk of Injury.

Q:Evaucation insurance for trekking trip I am looking for specific insurance for my trekking trip to Nepal in December. I need insurance for an emergency (helicopter) evacuation from the trek in the even a disaster happens, medical or other. I have international medical insurance already, but I need the emergency airlift/evacuation insurance. I've read your website info but I can't seem to find this coverage specifically. I will be with my wife, daughter (16 years old), another family of 5, and it will be a guided trip. Best regards

A:
Please note that emergency medical evacuation insurance plans cover evacuation and don't perform rescue operation. Evacuation is from hospital to hospital. Please look at evacuation plans at /trip-cancellation-insurance/ If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q:Evacuation insurance for diseases Hello, I plan to buy - if possible this week - an insurance from you. Regarding the Emergency Medical Evacuation (that would be from Brazil back to the US), I do not understand the exlusion : "disease of any kind" (second bullet). If any disease is axcluded from the evacuation plan, what's the use of being covered ? I think I miss something... THanks for your quick reply.

A:
You have misunderstood. That means that the evacuation insurance plans cover just the evacuation, that is transportation. There is no coverage for the treatment of any disease. I hope that clarifies. You can make instant purchase online at https://www.insubuy.com Please let me know if you have any other questions.
