Q:I am a US citizen. But I am a resident of Germany and have my health insurance there. I will be traveling to the US for 2 weeks beginning 6/26. I need a high deductible plan that qualifies under Obamacare. I believe I've gotten the Diplomat plan previously but can't seem to locate that. Can you assist me?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. There are plans that will offer coverage to a United States citizen who primarily resides outside of the U.S. that needs coverage with the borders of the U.S. for a short period. These plans will however not be ACA compliant. The Diplomat America plan is still available for coverage although it is not ACA compliant. There is also a plan called Patriot America Plus that will offer coverage as well. You can find links to these plans listed below. Q:Hi, I have a question about the suitable insurance plan for my wife. My wife is going to attend an interview for a J2 visa. If I understand it correctly, she is required to have a suitable insurance plan right on the date of interview. In addition, she will be enrolling into the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign ("UIUC") and the university has its insurance requirements as follows: "If students purchase private insurance, there is a MINIMUM amount of coverage required as follows: a minimum of $500,000 per illness or injury per academic year no less than an 80%/20% benefit plan for inpatient, outpatient, surgical procedures, and mental health the maximum annual deductible of $5,000.00 or less. PLEASE NOTE: Students who purchase private health insurance must bring proof of coverage to the IEI office at the time of registration. This proof must be in English This proof must be in U.S. Dollars It must include information that shows the minimum coverage has been met." Therefore, please recommend if you have any insurance plan meeting the requirements of the US Department of State and of the UIUC. By the way, her period of stay range from August 5, 2019 to May 16, 2020 (approximately 9 months).

Q:I want to check how could I know if the insurance plan include the physical examination. Right now, I am on OPT until 9/30 and will be on H1B from 10/1. Is there any insurance plan fits my requirements?

A:
There is a plan called Study USA that is available to F1 visa holders on OPT that will cover the cost of 1 routine physical per year. This plan is not available once your H1B starts and at that time you will have to enroll into a domestic insurance plan often times offered by your employer.
