Q:I understand that none of the policy will cover for the expenses of the treatment, but generally many insurance plans allows one to get some discounts for the treatment. If I purchase an insurance with Insubuy will I be able to get any such discounts? Also, when looking online I see some options which cover preexisting conditions, Will buying such coverage provide any discounts?

A:
Unfortunately, if the plans do not provide coverage for a particular treatment there will be no contracted rates. There are plans which will provide coverage for an acute onset of a pre-existing condition. This benefit is defined as a sudden and unexpected recurrence of a pre-existing condition that occurs all of a sudden without any prior symptoms or warnings and treatment must be taken within 24 hours. For example something like Dialysis treatment would not be covered under the acute onset of pre-existing conditions. Since the treatment would not be covered, there will be no contract negotiated rates or discounts for services provided. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I am an international student currently residing in the US. I need a health insurance plan for next 4 months. Two questions: 1. Can I take it for a year and then cancel after 4 months if I won't need to continue it? How much will you charge for that and how much will you refund? 2. I have a pre-existing condition (Hypothyroid) where I need to get Thyroid lab test done every 3-4 months and consult a doctor for changes in medication. What is a good plan covering that?

A:
Plans will only cover the new accidents and new illnesses that happen after the effective date of the policy. So anything related to your current pre-existing condition would not be covered. You are able to purchase the plan for the needed duration. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact our office.
