Q:I am going to the United States for postdoctoral work. My contract is 2020-2-10 to 2021-2-9. I want to buy a one-year insurance covering this time zone, which is 2020-2-10 to 2021-2-9. But this time zone is more than 365 days, what should I do?

A:
You can purchase insurance for 364 days then we can extend your policy manually as long as your school wants proof of insurance for whole duration. Please look at our J visa insurance section. Please enter appropriate criteria. You will find many plans and you can also compare them side by side. Please feel free to contact us if you need any further clarification. Patriot Exchange plan will be easier to extend compared to ExchangeGuard. Please compare both plans side by side.

Q:I'm wondering if you can accommodate our situations. We are US citizens, living in China. I will be traveling with two children (ages 10 and 8), to the US from December 26th- January 28th. For three weeks we will stay in a condo. The rest of the time we will stay with family. We will rent a car. I would like to know what is covered regarding flights, accommodations, and rental cars. (canceling or modifying reservations). We have health insurance, so that isn't our primary focus.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The plans that we offer are going to be for medical only. There is not a plan that we can offer you to cover your accommodations or rental cars. If you have any questions please contact our office.

Q:I moved to Orlando in August so I can get my degree from Valencia College. I had to take the mandatory insurance through the school. My wife and daughter moved here 2 weeks ago and in the process of trying to insure them, I discovered I might not be covered because of the definition of "home country" by insurance companies. We are all Canadian citizens and are not Permanent residents of the United States as we do not have a green card. However, we do not have a home in Canada. We live in Florida full time while I study to get my degree, get mail only in Florida and have a Florida Drivers License. We only travel back to Canada a few weeks a year to visit family. The U.S. considers us non-resident aliens as we have F1 and F2 visas. Are there any companies that will insure us? Is our home country considered Canada or the U.S.?

A:
Your home country is Canada if you are in US on F visas.
