Q:How do I insure a trip when I use points to pay for the hotel but if something happens (I have an elderly parent for example) and I have to cancel the hotel will refund me the points but charge me the entire stay as a cancellation fee in dollars.

A:
Trip insurance is generally meant to cover the non-refundable costs of your trip. It would not cover any points that are associated with hotels or airlines. However, if the reason for cancellation is covered, you can insure the cancellation fee. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
