Q:Confirming insurance eligibility Hi, My wife and I are moving from Australia to to Seattle, WA on the E3 visa. We are Australian citizens and require medical insurance from September 29 until I commence work on October 6. Is the Inbound USA Visitors applicable? If so, I could not choose Washington from the Residence drop down list. Is there another insurance policy suitable for us? Thanks, - - - Updated - - - Is the following policy suitable given our circumstances outlined in the first email? /safe-travels-usa-cost-saver/visitors-insurance/ Thanks heaps for your help!

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. If you are coming to US on E3visa. You can’t purchase Safe Travel plan. You need to purchase Patriot America plan. Which is very similar to Safe travel plan. Patriot America brochure, instant purchase and other useful information, /patriot-america-lite-insurance/ You can also look at other plans at, /new-immigrant-insurance/ Please enter appropriate criteria and you will find some plans. You can compare them side by side. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us. Hi, Thank you for the advice. Where/what is the wording in the Safe Travel Plan policy that prevents E3 visa cover? I read the online wording and would like to know so I can check other policies, including Patriot America. Regards, Safe Travels USA plan is designed to be purchased who need coverage outside their home country. As E3 visa is a resident non-immigrant visa, you will be living in the US and your home country would be considered US. Therefore, you can’t get the coverage in the US under Safe Travels USA. However, as you are non-US citizen, the Patriot America plans allows you to put either USA or Australia (country of citizenship) as your home country irrespective of where you live. Therefore, in order to get the coverage in the US, you can put your home country as Australia in Patriot America. You can’t do the same for Safe Travels USA as in that plan, where you live is your home country. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Q:Pre-existing conditions - Advance answer for coverage Hi, I am looking to buy health insurance for my in laws who will be visiting US (New Jersey) in the week on Sept 19th. I had few questions related to policy etc and will greatly appreciate if you can answer them:- 1) Do I need to buy same type of insurance for both parents? Can I buy insurance from Atlas America with lower deductible for one person and another insurance from some other company with different deductible for his spouse? 2) The return date for my in laws is not yet finalized ( obviously it will be within 6 months of arrival). If I purchase insurance for 6 months, will I get refund for the remaining period should they decide to head back early? 3) My mother in law had some GI problems more than a year back. She took the necessary treatment in India and now she is back to normal. However if the problem re-occurs during her stay in USA, will it be covered if I take the comprehensive plan with pre-existing coverage? Do you anticipate any issues here? I have already read your FAQ on this but any further clarification will help to avoid frustration later on 4) In case there is a need to visit doctor during their stay, how the claim process will work? Will I get a card or member ID for them which when produced at doctor’s office will suffice for getting treatment? Or Do I need to pay upfront fees and then claim it later (not preferable option for me though)? 5) Where can I get a list of in network doctor for a particular plan? PS - BTW I just observed that if I google for your contact email I get a different email ID than if I come to your site through immihelp. Was little confused where to send email. Regards,

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance. 1. You can purchase different plan for each person. 2. Refund rules vary for each plan. Next to each plan that is refundable, you will see a link that says ‘Refundable’ and that will show the refund rule. Please look at /visitor-insurance/ 3. Our FAQ is the best clarification we can provide. 4. Please read /what-is-visitors-insurance/ for in-network claims. Yes, you will receive ID card. 5. Next to each plan that has PPO network, you will see a link ‘Direct Billing…’ at /visitor-insurance/ You can search for the participating providers there. We use different email addresses just for tracking purposes to see where the requests are coming from. Irrespective of the email address, they all come to the same place and answered by the same people. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Thx.. Pls clarify on point # 3 below. Will the plan cover treatment related to GI problems if they resurface? Your explanation in FAQ doesn't give direct answer on this. I want to have absolute clarity on this before purchasing from you which is why I am disclosing the condition to you. There is no way to make the assessment in advance for any specific medical condition. It is determined at the time, after the fact, based on the medical records and the attending physician report, whether something is a pre-existing condition, an acute onset of pre-existing condition, sudden and unexpected recurrence of pre-existing condition or excluded medical condition. But when insurance companies say that they cover acute onset of pre existing condition, doesn't it mean it covers any medical problem of the past which got re-surfaced due to any reason while policy is effective? All I am trying to understand is that if i have to take my mom to a hospital due to an illness which she had in the past (but now she is normal and doesn't need doctor visit) will she come under the purview of pre existing coverage or not. I know it is specific to an individual but based on the info I have provided can we not figure out anything? I am not necessarily looking for a YES answer here but need clarity. Regards Please read /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ That is the best clarify I can give.

Q:Need information on PPO in and around Union CIty, California Hello there, I have visited your web-site with a interest to procure health insurance for my wife and daughter who are planning to visit USA in near future for a short duration. Going through various Comprehensive Coverage Schemes at your web-site, I feel that following four schemes may be appropriate. - Atlas America - Liaison Continent A - Patriot America - Safe Travels USA I would like to opt for the one which has better PPO coverage (cashless mode) in and around Union City, California as my wife and daughter would be stationed at Union City during their stay. I would also appreciate if you can suggest a more pertinent coverage. I would greatly appreciate your guidance in the matter so that I can procure the coverage at an early date. With best regards,

A:
Hello, In most cases, if you go in network the providers (doctors, hospitals, urgent care centers, etc.) will bill directly but there is no way to guarantee which providers will or will not. The only way you can get more information about the billing practice is to contact the providers directly. If you do contact them you will need to reference the PPO network names such as First Health, Coventry or Multiplan PPO. If an provider chooses not to bill directly then you will have to pay upfront & then file for reimbursement. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us. Hi, Thanks for very prompt reply. I would greatly appreciate if you can kindly answer following queries. 1. If we are buying insurance from you, in case an provider chooses not to bill directly and we have to pay upfront and then file for reimbursement, will you help us with settlement of claim? 2. Out of the four plans mentioned (Atlas America, Liaison Continent A, Patriot America, Safe Travels USA), which plan would you recommend? In case you have other better options, kindly suggest those as well. 3. Can I buy the plan from India? Would you mail the policy to non USA address or you need address in USA? Your reply will help us buy the plan at an early date. With best regards, 1. We are not involved in day to day claim activities. However, if you have any problems with the claim, you can certainly contact us and we will be glad to help you. 2. You can purchase Atlas America, available at /atlasamerica-insurance/ 3. As the purchase is online, you can purchase it from anywhere. You will receive the policy by email immediately. Additionally, you will receive the policy to whatever mailing address you specify, whether it is India or US or anywhere else. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance for your mother. Unfortunately, there is no plan available anywhere that would cover everything. Each plan has their own terms and conditions. Please look at /atlasamerica-insurance/ It is an excellent plan. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Firstly, is this policy valid in Canada? Secondly, what will be the premium if I buy this Atlas America Insurance policy for $ 100000.00 1. Yes. 2. The premium information is on the link I sent you. Q:Atlas America eligibility It is stated in the Atlas America Visitor insurance policy wording that non-U.S. citizens are eligible for the policy. Given that the definition of a non-U.S. citizen is legal aliens living in the USA as residents, would my relative be considered a non-U.S. resident if she is visiting for 82 days? She is entering the USA on a visitors visa.

A:
If someone is visiting the US for 82 days on a visitors visa, that person would definitely be eligible for Atlas America insurance, available at /atlasamerica-insurance/ By the way, visitors to USA are not considered US residents. That is because even though they are physically present in the US, they don’t really live here.

Q:Combining multiple visitors insurance Greetings. I have bought insurance through you many many times, and here I am one more time. I live in Bay Area (San Jose) California, and my parents will be visiting me. Dad: Age 72 yrs, 6 months Dad has pre-existing conditions: diabetes, and treated for cancer two years ago. Mom: Age 64 yrs, 5 months Mom has no known pre-existing conditions, generally been ok. 1. What are the top best option(s) you can recommend and can you let me know which one you would pick? (I understand for acute onset Patriot gives $2500 which is very small, so that wont make the final difference, if other things are better in something else). 2. What is the max coverage amount ($100,000 or more?) that I am eligible to purchase (especially Dad is 72 yrs). Thanks,

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance for your parents. I certainly remember you as you have purchased the insurance from us several times in the past. For your father, based on the policy maximum you would like to go for, here are my recommendations: $50,000 - Patriot America $100,000 - Atlas America $150,000 - Patriot America + Atlas America $200,000 - Patriot Platinum America + Atlas America $250,000 - Liaison Continent (It must be purchased first BEFORE any other ones) + Patriot Platinum America + Atlas America For your mother, you can consider purchasing Atlas America. All of the plans are available at our web site https://www.insubuy.com Please let me know if you have any other questions. I have purchased policies for my Dad and Mom (Atlas) from InsuBuy.
