Q:I entered USA in August 2016 for my masters. I completed my masters in May 2018 and currently, I am working under OPT F-1 visa. I am planning to take Patriot America health insurance for 3 months. But I am not sure if I am eligible or not. Will you please confirm that and let me know? And as I am in USA for more than 2 years, what will be the country of residence? Will it be USA or country of citizenship?

A:
Please read OPT Medical Insurance Eligibility for details.

Q:I'm looking for a health insurance for me and my wife. She studies at UCLA Extension and I'm her F2. I was instructed to send you the waiver list from UCLA, to check if Insubuy would be accepted. The UCLA document is attached.

A:
The document you provided didn't provide the list of requirements so we went online and found this document If this is correct then we would not have plans that will meet their requirements since it says they require a plan that provides "all minimum essential health benefits" and the plans that offer that coverage would be domestic plans and can be obtained only through the university.

Q:My mother will be traveling from Mexico to NYC, she is a mexican citizen, 63 years old, and has diabetes, that has been controlled for about 18 years. She also was detected a kidney stone about a year ago but she did not have surgery neither pain until now, however we are worried that during the travel she might have sudden pain due to the kidney stone. My question is, would that be covered as an acute onset of pre existing condition? I know it would depend on the plan, but at least I want to have an idea. Anyways I am interested on get the insurance for her and other 2 people, in case anything else happens

A:
Unfortunately, kidney stones would not meet the definition of Acute Onset so there is no plan out there that would cover this situation. We would still recommend purchasing a plan that includes the Acute Onset in case there is a situation that happens that does meet the definition. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I am interested in your F2 insurance "Exchange Guard Essential" program with: Deductible: 500 Policy Max: 100,000 CO-pay: 100/0 68.73 per month.

A:
The plan can be effective as early as the next day and will cover any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date. Plans will not cover anything already going on. You can choose to receive an ID card in the mail. You will receive one in your confirmation email after purchase. Hospitals should bill directly. The only amount you will save is the $5 renewal fee each time you renew.

Q:I am a Brazilian citizen and graduate student in the United States. I need to find additional health insurance, covering the benefits of repatriation of remains, and your services seem to be a perfect option for me. However, I could not simulate a quote for a period longer than one year of duration. In fact, I need to present a valid contract showing that I've purchased health insurance covering the 4-year term of my studies abroad. Could you offer me this option?

A:
The quote can only be ran for the first year and the original purchase can be for the first year. After the purchase it can be extended for the additional time.
