Q:Hi, I am a Canadian citizen and I am thinking of booking a trip to Europe in the next week or so. I will be traveling to France, Italy, and Greece for around a month. I would like to know if there are any insurance policies that cover coronavirus (trip interruption and cancellation). I would like a plan that would cover any hospitalizations, medical complications, food, and housing. Thank you so much for your time!

A:
The only type of benefit that would offer such coverage would be a plan with the cancel for any reason benefit, which would only be available to US residents. Should you have further questions please let us know. Alternatively, you may speak with any of our licensed representatives at (866) 467-8289.

Q:Do you have a travel insurance policy available to cover a US citizen visiting Florida for the winter that would cover Covid if travel is made impossible and/or quarantine?

A:
The only type of insurance that would allow coverage to cancel your trip for reasons related to COVID-19 would be under a plan with a cancel for any reason benefit. A plan with this type of benefit is dependent on the date of the initial trip deposit. You must purchase the plan within 10-20 days to be eligible for such benefit and it is dependent on the plan. You can quote travel insurance plans here. Should you have additional questions please let us know. You may also call our office at (866) 467-8289 if you have further questions.

Q:We have a project in West Virginia that we started last year that will be possibly restarting in September. I am looking for full medical insurance coverage for 6 to 12 months for my wife and myself. We are working under TN status. We normally are on site for 2 months at a time and then fly home for 7 to 10 days. We would need Covid 19 coverage.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. You and your wife may purchase the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive insurance plan for each duration you are in US. It will treat COVID-19 as any other eligible expense, should it manifest after the effective date of the policy. Keep in mind, all the plans on the market cover the new illnesses and injuries that manifest after the effective date of the policy. They will not cover pre-existing conditions, preventative or routine care. Please let us know if you have additional questions or need further assistance. Alternatively, you may call our office at (866) 467-8289.

Q:I'm a US Citizen (retired military) and I'm planning on taking a vacation in Tokyo, Thailand, and the United States. I'm not sure about Japan but Thailand is required $100,000 travel insurance that covers COVID-19. Is COVID-19 covered and if not would you recommend an insurance organization that does? Travel dates are from 6-26 August. Thank you in advance

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. We would be happy to assist you in finding adequate coverage for your vacation. As a United States Citizen, if you primarily reside outside the US and are in need of COVID-19 coverage for a visit to the US, the recommended plan would be the Diplomat America plan. As far as travel outside the US is concerned, you would want to purchase a plan such as Safe Travels International Cost Saver. Both plans will allow coverage for COVID-19 if it were to manifest in the body after the effective date of the policy. Keep in mind, just like any other visitor insurance on the market, the plans are designed to cover the new illness and injuries that manifest after the effective date. They do not cover pre-existing conditions, preventative or routine care. You may also read more about COVID-19 coverage here. Should you have additional questions or need further assistance, please let us know. Alternatively, you may also reach out and speak with one of our agents directly at (866) 467-8289.

Q:Am I entitled to a refund for the premium I paid for travel insurance if the trip was cancelled by the Tour Agency and never took place? Do I have any recourse?

A:
Trip Insurance is specific to certain guidelines through the certificate wording of each plan. The only type of insurance that is allowing coverage for cancellation due to COVID-19 reasons would be a Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) plan. These types of insurance policies must be purchased within a certain number of days from the initial trip deposit in order to be eligible. We recommend you call our office at (866) 467-8289 and speak with one of our licensed representatives to see what would be applicable to your situation.

Q:I am looking to extend my mother's travel medical insurance by another month. Will I be able to extend it a second time further in case her travel plans change again after one more month or is it limited to one extension only?

A:
In the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan, much like other visitor insurance plans, you may extend the coverage as needed as long as the individual maintains the active visa status. Should you extend for one month and need another after that you may do so. Should you have additional questions please let us know. You may also call us at (866) 467-8289.
