Q:Visitors Insurance Question Your messages have been very helpful. Thanks a lot. I have a question regarding Visitors insurance. Is it possible to buy 2 insurance policies from different companies for additional protection For example if one company denies the claim , would it be possible to use the other policy and file the claim Thanks a lot in advance for your reply.

A:
As per our discussion over the phone, that is not recommended. Visitors insurance plans are considered secondary to any other applicable plan that you may have. If you have two plans, both the companies may tell you to claim from the other one first, and finally they may settle down for the coordination of benefits where both the companies agree to pay the portion of the claim. When filing the claim with one company, you will have to provide the original paperwork to that company. If that company rejects the claim, you can't really provide the original paperwork to the other company again. Therefore, in my opinion, it would cause more problems than solve any.

Q:Atlas America vs Protection America I had a question for you. I was thinking of buying Atlas America insurance for my parents because of acute onset condition included in this policy. But then I was reading about how Hygeia network is not known to all providers. Even though their names appear on Hygeia list. I was wondering what happens when we go to them and they don't recognize the insurance company. Also, you recommended Protection america to people because doctors are more aware of First Health network. I was hesitant to buy Protection america because of another reason. They don't cover 100% after deductible when we go in network. Atlas America does. That's a big difference. Is there any other policy with First Health network that would cover 100% after deductible Thanks for your time and advice.

A:
1. Atlas America participates in Hygeia as well as First Health PPO networks. Therefore, as long as the provider recognizes either of them, you are fine. Both the logos would be printed on the id card. If they still don't accept it, you can first pay and file for reimbursement. After the deductible, it will pay 80% for first $5,000 and then 100% up to policy maximum. 2. Yes, Patriot Platinum America, at /patriot-america-platinum-insurance/ Thanks for the reply but I was wondering how can Hygeia network have names of the providers when providers do not recognize them. Isn't it wrong on Atlas America/Hygeia Network's part to have doctors listed who they don't have any agreement with. I was wondering what are your thoughts on my above question. Atlas America participates in Hygeia as well as First Health PPO networks. Therefore, as long as the provider recognizes either of them, you are fine. Both the logos would be printed on the id card. I hope that answers your questions.

Q:visiting parent has catheter My father from India who is 73 is keen on visiting us in california . He has an indwelling urinary catheter as he lost his bladder control after a spinal surgery 2 years ago. what kind of medical insurance should i buy? Is it better to buy in the u.s or India? will monthly catheter changes ?(reqd to avoid infections)be covered under insurance?

A:
It is definitely better to buy the insurance from U.S. Please read /visitors-insurance-usa-india-comparison/ to understand the difference between buying from US vs India. Unfortunately, there is no plan available in the market that would cover her physiotherapy session as it would be considered as pre-exisiting conditions. All the plans are designed to cover any new medical conditions. Even though there are some plans available that may cover up to some small extent in some very limited and unforeseen circumstances, it would not cover your father's condition as it is already known in advance that you need it. You can read more at /visitor-medical-insurance-pre-existing-conditions/ There are two types of insurance plans: Fixed: Limited, cheaper Comprehensive: Better, more expensive More details at /visitors-insurance/ If you would like to buy fixed coverage plan, look at Visitors Care, at /visitors-care-insurance/ If you would like to comprehensive, the choices are based on whether you would like $50,000 or $100,000 coverage. For $50,000, look at Patriot America at /patriot-america-lite-insurance/ For $100,000, look at Patriot Platinum America at /patriot-america-platinum-insurance/ We always recommend everyone to buy comprehensive coverage plan. You will get all the details about each plan in the links above, you can also compare them side by side at https://www.insubuy.com and make instant purchase online. Q:Respond if you have filed claims with IMG plans Hello, Id like to hear from anyone who has actually filed a claim with IMG plans for Visitor coverage and whether the outcome was satisfying. Thanks a lot.

A:
I completely understand you specifically asked that I should not respond to this. (By the way, I don't write anything inaccurate, anyway). However, as no one has responded in a couple of days, let me clarify something. Unlike other web sites such as immigration etc. where people routinely hang out because their greeen card processing takes many years and they are constantly looking for useful information, for example, most people come to this web site when they are looking for information to buy the insurance, or they bought some insurance (either the ones we sell or the ones we don't) and had some negative experience and want to write about it or looking for some help. It is not normal for many people to routinely hang out on this discussion forum. Most people look for information, buy something and go away. And most of those people either don't end up filing the claim or don't experience any problem. As a consumer, I myself would not hang out on Aetna's or Blue Cross Blue Shield's web sites and post positive experiences every time some one in my family happened to go to the doctor. That is because most consumers simply don't care. That is a fact of the life. I hope you understand what I am trying to explain. And I really hope that more and more people provide their feedback as that is the only way even for us to know about various plans and various companies experiences. Unfortunately, the positive ones are rarely posted.

Q:Advice needed on insurance choice Hello Are there any insurance plans that would cover a potential sudden onset of a condition such as Cellulitis that may have occurred in the past. If the condition reoccurrs, would it be treated as a pre-existing condition or a new instance ? Could you please provide some suggestions ? Thank you

A:
Unfortunately, no such plans exist. Unfortunately, no such plans exist. Hi found this link. /atlas-america/acute-onset-pre-existing-conditions-coverage/ Would'nt this be helpful for the suggested scenario ? Thank you No, because Atlas America excludes skin conditions, even if it is new medical condition. Look at /atlas-america/visitor-medical-insurance/ What is Excluded? 15. Disease of the skin And please note that even for other diseases, it is only meant for acute onset of pre-existing conditions, something that happens all of sudden and is life threatening. I am not sure whether there would be anything life threatening in skin conditions.
