Q:My parents 83 and 82 are arriving to the US from Venezuela by mid January. They will be coming as a visitor and will be becoming US resident once they arrive in the US. They will spend in the US about 5 months. We will need to have them insured against any sudden accidents and/or sickness that may occur while in the US. I've been researching your website but not quite sure how would you classify them for quote purposes. Please advise if this coverage can be bought online.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. If they are getting their green card when they arrive then you can review the plans in the New Immigrant section of our website. The plans will cover any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date and will not cover any pre-existing conditions, preventative care, or routine maintenance. There are two types of plans you can choose from. There are fixed coverage plans and comprehensive coverage plans. The fixed coverage plans are basic plans that pay a fixed amount according to a schedule of benefits and if anything happens the majority of the cost will come from your pocket. The comprehensive plans will pay a percentage but because of their age will have a higher deductible to meet before the plan begins to pay. The majority of the plans can be purchased online. Q:My wife will be visiting scholar in Monterey MIIS. I see your Atlas Exchange/Atlas Essential America/Atlas America plan for J1/J2. Does it cover vaccine for my baby (2 months old) with J2 visa? It is very important for us to choose insurance.

A:
None of the Atlas plans will cover the well child exams or vaccines. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:If I bought your insurance, could you help me find inexpensive/free vaccine for my baby?

A:
We wouldn't have information on providers offering free vaccines in your area. You can probably find that through an internet search.

Q:I got a notice "CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS SPECIAL NOTICE:" We are Chinese and visiting scholar in California. Can we buy "Atlas Exchange Essential" for my family including a 2-month old baby? Thank you!

A:
Yes, you can purchase that plan for your family. The Notice of California only applies to permanent residents or U.S. citizens who are residents in California. Because you are on J1 and J2 visas, this notice does not apply to your family. It only comes up because you have a CA address. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I will be studying abroad at Virginia Tech, USA and need cover from 1st Jan, 2018 - 1st Aug, 2018. I am from Sydney, Australia. Please refer to the insurance waiver I have attached to this email and confirm whether you are able to tick all of the boxes on the waiver.

A:
Unfortunately, the plans all have a waiting period for pre-existing conditions so there is no plan that will meet all of the requirements as listed. To meet the requirements you would have to purchase directly from the University. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.
