Q:Let's assume the following for purchasing multiple medical insurance policies for someone older than 70 to increase total coverage amount.1. Both policies have the same PPO network and do direct billing.2. Both policies are comprehensive. 3. Both policies have slightly different copays. When the insured goes to the doctor, what insurance card should they present to the doctor? Should they give both? How will the doctor know how much to bill each insurance, or will the two insurance companies figure out costs among themselves as long as any one of them is billed?

A:
If you were to purchase 2 Comprehensive plans to increase overall coverage, coordination of benefits would be determined between the insurance companies. You could present one card to a provider unless for example it's a hospital visit that may exceed the first policy's maximum, then you could present both cards.

Q:If I am a law enforcement officer and get subpoenaed for a court, would that be covered?

A:
Our Trip Insurance plans cover for specified named reasons and while some plans can provide benefits for unexpected court reasons, usually there is a law enforcement exclusion, most likely because it could be a common occurance based on that line of work. Depending on the state you reside in and when you made your initial trip deposit if the benefit is available to you, we would recommend adding cancel for any reason. /travel-insurance/ /cancel-for-any-reason-travel-insurance/

Q:It will not let me purchase for the state of Maryland. Why

A:
Due to state laws, many plans have a geographic restriction for a mailing address, or even the physical presence, in the state of Maryland. It is advised to check the geographic restrictions of a plan before purchase or call our office to speak to a live agent. If you are unsure, you can always run a quote using one of the links below to see what plans are available to you. For travel to the US, please visit: Visitors to U.S.A. Q:Hi, We have a question whether the following medicines can be covered under Prescription Medicine benefit for the travel insurance.1. Clotrimazole 10MG Troc2. dipenhydramine-aluminium/magnesium/simethicone-lidocaine (bmx) 1:1:1

A:
If prescription medication is needed for a new injury or illness that was not present in the body before the effective date of the policy, then it could receive coverage. Q:Please explain what is the emergency coverage in fixed plan. When it says 500 per visit and additional 200 deductible , what does it mean?

A:
Each plan is different, but typically what that means is that if you were to go to the Emergency Room due to an illness and you were not admitted into the hospital, you would have to meet an additional $200 deductible. The $500 that is listed there is the sub-limited amount that the insurance company will pay per incident for an ER visit, but again that will vary depending on the plan. Remember, Fixed plans are very limited in benefits and if anything is to happen the majority of the cost would come out of your pocket, please see Risks of Purchasing Fixed Coverage Plans. We will always recommend to purchase a Comprehensive Plan.
