Q:I'm an international student here in the US and I'm graduating this term. However, I have applied for OPT starting in April and I'm no longer covered by my university for health insurance. So, I would like to have health insurance from Insubuy. I want to ask about a quote for health insurance during my OPT from Insubuy. I would also like to ask: - how does the insurance work? - when does the coverage start? - what kind of coverage do I get? (like eyes, teeth, etc) - how much is it per month? - how long is the contract? Can I cancel the insurance anytime I want? Would you please explain to me how it all works?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The plans available for someone on OPT will primarily cover you for new illnesses, injuries or accidents which occur after the effective date of the policies. They generally do not cover pre-existing conditions, routine doctors' visits or preventative treatments. There are some options that will provide coverage for pre-existing conditions after either a 6 or 12 month waiting period. Please view the OPT section of the website for more information on the plans available.

Q:My father-in-law is traveling from Bangladesh to USA. He is in his 70's. He is diabetic and also has heart condition. He will be staying for 5+ months. What will be cost for him to get insurance coverage if we do monthly? is it going to be any better for 6 month cost wise? What medical treatment is covered in case he need to see doctor or emergency? Can I buy it anytime even when he is in the USA? What is the best affordable insurance for with best care coverage?

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Insurance for an international visitor provides coverage for any new sickness, injuries or accident that may occur after the insurance effective date. It will not pay for any routine maintenance for pre-existing or preventive care. However, we have some plan which provides coverage for an acute onset of pre-existing conditions. You can purchase Atlas America or Safe Travel USA comprehensive plan.

If you already want to cancel your trip and want to buy the insurance to cover that, there is no such insurance plan available as it would be a pure loss to the insurance company.
