Q:Hello, I have my elderly in laws that might visit us in March 2021. I was considering getting medical insurance for them while they are in the USA for a period of about 5 to 6 months. What options would you recommend? We have a 75 year old male and 58 year old female traveling. I would be worried about Covid 19 (in addition to other age related health conditions they already have). Please recommend.

A:
We have numerous plans available that could suit their needs. We recommend quoting a plan for them in this section of the website. You would also want to quote them separately as they are in separate age groups and the plans will not allow you to proceed with them under the same application. Should you need assistance with this you may call our office at (866) 467-8289.

Q:If I have to be put on medication for high blood pressure do you have a 90 day stability clause?

A:
The plans cover for new illnesses and new injuries that occur or manifest after the effective date. They do not cover things that are preventative, routine, or pre-existing. Some plans do include Acute onset benefits of pre-existing conditions and I have attached the information link below to explain that benefit option. /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ Each plan has specific guidelines as to how they define a pre-existing condition, for example, anything someone has been treated for in the last 2 years would be considered a pre-existing condition. However, there are not 90 day stability clauses. If someone has a pre-existing condition and they have an acute onset based on the attending physician's report at the time of incident, claims will verify it meets the definition of an acute onset to determine if the claims are payable under that benefit. Acute onset benefit levels vary by plan, based on the insured's age. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
