Q:I am a returning client and I purchased Atlas America Plan for my mother who was visiting the US in 2017. I have a question with regards to the visitor insurance policy for my mother. She is travelling to the US and I am planning to buy Atlas America plan for her. This plan has a deductible per policy period. What does that mean. Let me give you my understanding with an example here. If I take the plan with deductible of $500, with a 100K coverage and for 6 months. Now if the covered medical incident occurs that costs $400, the maximum out of pocket expense that I have to pay is the whole amount here which is $400 as $500 is the deductible. Now my question - Another medical incident occured within the same 6 month policy period and that costs about $1500, do I have to again pay $500 as deductible or is it like I have to pay $100 as I have already paid $400 in the previous incident under the same policy period of those 6 months. Please clarify so that I can decide on the plan.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The deducible in the Atlas America plan is per policy period. You would pay this deductible once during the 6 months (364 maximum) you have the plan. So in your example the subsequent visit you would pay $100 towards the eligible expense to meet your deducitble. If you need any additional clarification please contact our office.
