Q:Hi, My name is Micaela Rincon, i have a travel safe outbound cost saver policy. I am in my country of destination ( FRANCE ) and have been here for the past 7 months on a visa. 3 weeks ago i fell and tore my ACL in my knee. I went to the hospital In France but when i present my insurance information when it comes time to pay for the services they dont understand because it is in english and because they are unfamilliar with Insubuy. So far i have had to pay for my services ( xrays, doctors visits and and MRI scan) out of pocket. Recently i have been told i might need surgery which i will not be able to pay full price out of pocket and that my insurance policy covers , How do i present my insurance information to hospital so they understand my coverage and can i get reimbursed for the services that i have payed in full for while having my policy active ? Thank you for your time and response , sincerely - Micaela Rincon

A:
Direct billing is up to the provider. If you pay up front for services, you would simply file a claim for reimbursement. As long as the services were for covered expenses under the policy while active, you would be reimbursed up to your policy benefit levels. However, your previous policy expired on 3/19/22 and then you purchased a new policy, which is the current certificate number you have provided. Any treatment that has to do with your injury will not be covered under the new policy as it will be deemed a pre-existing condition. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
