Q:Visitor Care - Coverage during travel My parents are arriving in June. I am thinking of getting Visitor's care from this website. Does this plan cover their travel from India too. Also if we travel to Canada, is the insurance valid there? Thanks Anu

A:
Yes, it does. Yes, Visitors Care covers during the travel time as well. Visitors Care provides coverage anywhere outside home country. And coverage starts at 12.01 Indianapolis time (Central time in Summer) on the day you specify. As most flights leave early morning from India, which is still a previous day here in US, in order to cover during the travel also, I reccommend that you mention the effective date one day in advance. And it provides coverage in Canada too.

Q:Visitors Care questions I was looking at the Plan B of the Visitors Insurance that quoted a cost of $342.30 for 5.5 months with a maximum coverage of $50,000. Got few questions If I buy this plan for a person already in U.S 1. How many Emergency room visits are covered ? It says 300 is allowed per visit. 2. Is this valid in all states in the U.S? 3. How may I find participating providers? 4. The restriction on the number of times a person can see a primary care physician is 10 times per coverage period? Is the maximum per visit $50? 5. If the person is diabetic and if the primary care physician finds out that the sugar levels are more and does some treatment, will this be covered up to $50 or will it be considered as pre-existing condition? 4. Is there a detailed brochure that says what is allowed/covered and how much will I have to spend?

A:
1. As many times as needed. 2. Yes. 3. You can go to any provider you like. There is no directory. Please read /international-medical-ppo-network/ 4. You are right. 5. It will NOT be covered as it will be considered as pre-existing condition. 6. Brochure is available at /visitors-care/visitor-medical-insurance/

Q:Confirmation of coverage letter I am a physician from Egypt, invited to research work in USA. I was asked to have 2 months insurance. I selected you to provide me with it. But the sponsoring organization have asked for 2 things. The first is a confirmatory letter after getting the insurance. The second , they sent me a certificate that must be filled by the insurance carrier confirming the completion of the insurance for me, this certificate must be sent back to me so that I can send it to them again to get the visa. My question is how can I do that if I am going to order my insurance via email. thank you

A:
If you have access to fax, you can fax those documents to us at 001-972-767-4470. Or if you have a scanner, you can scan those and attach them in an email and send it to us. Once you purchase the insurance, you will receive all the documents in the email, as well as they will be sent you by regular mail.

Q:Protection America/Atlas America comprehensive insurance I read your replies in buyamericaninsurace.com and wanted to get in touch with you regarding Protection America/Atlas America comprehensive insurance for visitors to USA. My parents are visiting here and they will be here by June 8th. I would like to know about the claims for both insurance plan? Should we pay the doctor's office and then file for a claim or all we have to pay is something like co-pay. Please let me know. Are there any limitations in the doctor visits? For example can we visit doctor with fever/allergy or any symptoms that they may have after coming to us or is there any limitations in the purpose of visit. I am sure many of you might have asked you similar questions, but I am new to visitor insurance, so please bear with me. Looking forward to hearing from you.

A:
Both Protection American and Atlas America are excellent plans regarding the claims. Both of them are PPO plans. They have wide network of doctors and hospitals all over the US. When you make a purchase, you get a health insurance card. When you go to the doctors in the network, they would bill the insurance company directly. In both the plans, you have to first pay the deductible (once a year max). After that, insurance company pays 80% for first $5,000 expense (you pay 20%), and after that, they will pay 100% up to the policy maximum for eligible claims. Insurance company will cover any new medical condition, sickness, injury, and accidents etc. that occur after the effective date of the policy. I hope that answers all your questions.

Q:Plan Visitor Care by IMG What I understood from Plan of Visitor Care by IMG : 1: for an outpatient physician visit, my mom needs to pay $50 co-pay each time she visits and she can go for TOTAL of 10 visits during her 6 months stay in the US. 2: Plan "C" will pay TOTAL of $250 for prescription drug during her 6 months stay in the US. 3. Plan "C" will pay TOTAL of $950 for X-ray & LAB during her 6 months stay in the US.

A:
The amounts that you have mentioned are per period of coverage. Deductible is also one per period of coverage. If you buy for 6 months and pay for 6 months, period of coverage is 6 months. If you buy for 3 months, and pay for 3 months, 3 months is your period of coverage and when you renew it, period of coverage starts again and the benefits that you mentioned start again, deductible starts again. For prescription drug, what will be my co-pay? There is no co-pay. Insurance company will pay 100% up to $250. Then you pay after that.

Q:Protection America vs. ExPatriot Plus 1. My aunt is 76 years old, and will be here in the US on a visitor's visa for 6 months, with no pre-existing conditions. What plan would you recommend? 2. What is the difference between Protection America and ExPatriot Plus? 3. Per the brochure: Insured person must only satisfy 1 deductible and coinsurance within each coverage period. If I buy coverage for 3 months and renew for another 3 months, will I pay deductible only once during the entire 6 months, or once for the 1st 3 months and again for the renewed period? 4.The Brochure for Protection America refers to Passport Protection in page 8. What is this Passport Protection? 5.Eligibility Requirements for people above 65 requires attaching a copy of the Visa? Does this mean that to apply I must wait till the visa is received. How to "attach" the visa copy if I am going to apply online? 6.What is the difference between Period of Coverage and Benefit Period? (brochure has these terms) 7.Your FAQ section recommends renewals because they have certain advantages. However, will the premium be higher at renewal, if during the initial coverage period there was need to seek benefits? If the answer is yes, mow much would be the increase for? 8.Protection America has no reference to NNC (Network Negotiated Charges? Please verify this plan has NNC in it. I know have I have asked quite a few questions. But your clarifications would immensely help me, and 2 more of my friends who are planning on getting the coverage for their parents. I would appreciate your early reply. Thanks a million!!

A:
Here are the answers to your questions: 1. Protection America 2. Protection America has First Health PPO Network. Can be purchased for min. 5 days and can be renewed for min. 5 days at a time (or any more no. of days or months at a time). $5 renewal fee applies. ExPatriot Plus is for min. 3 months and renewals in multiples of months. No renewal fee. No PPO network. Little cheaper than Protection America. 3. Once during entire 6 months. 4. 'Passport Protection Plus' is the official name of the insurance plan, and it is medical insurance. It has nothing to do with protecting your actual passport. Sorry for the confusion because of name. 5. You don't need attach any copy if you are applying online. 6. Period of coverage is the period during which you are insured and paid the premium. Benefit period is the period following period of coverage for you would be eligible to receive treatment for sicknesses/injuries that occurred during period of coverage. 7. No change in premiums as long as you are in the same age group. Only the renewal fee. 8. Yes, it has NNC.
