Q:I need information urgently. I have to buy insurance for spring and I have information that besides the students requirements (100,000 max, 500 max deductible, 25,000 min for repatriation of remains, etc...) the insurance needs to be ACA compliant. Do you offer any health insurance also ACA compliant??? If so, could you send me information about it and how to buy it??

A:
The only place we are aware of that will offer ACA compliant insurance to a J1/J2 visa holder would be the university itself. The university offers domestic insurance, which is the only insurance that would be ACA compliant.

Q:My husband has stable heart condition and has had no changes for over 3 years. He is also diabetic on insulin. Will waiver for preexisting conditions be applicable if purchased within time period. I will book hotels which are non refundable within 2 to 3 days of arrival. Do I add these to my costs?

A:
Yes, the pre-existing exclusion is waived if purchased within the time frame mentioned. You would include the cost of the hotel since the plan will cover the non-refundable trip cost.

Q:I am an international student at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. I am currently looking for insurance that can cover the following criteria and I thought about your company. Do you have a plan that can work for me? Thank you. Your alternate health insurance coverage must meet the following minimum requirements in additional to the PPACA. 1. Unlimited maximum on benefits 2. No pre-existing condition limitation 3. $500 or less deductible 4. Coverage period includes semester dates 5. Proof of Repatriation expenses in the amount of no less than $25,000.00 6. Proof of Evacuation coverage in the amount of no less than $50,000.00 7. The mandatory coverage period during the following dates: August 15, 2018 to August 14, 2019 Spring - 1/1/19 through 5/31/19 Summer - 6/1/2019 through 8/14/2019

A:
We would be glad to assist, however, your requirements state that your insurance must be PPACA compliant, as well as the additional benefits listed. The only coverage that a F1 visa holder could obtain that would be PPACA compliant, would be the insurance offered to you through your school. Because domestic insurance does not include Medical Evacuation and Repatriation benefits, we do offer a plan that you can purchase for just these 2 benefits. Please review our Medical Evacuation Insurance as many students carry this in addition to their domestic insurance.
