Q:Hi, If i buy a 6 months short-term insurance and turn out to be pregnant during that period, would that affect my ability to renew the insurance for another 6 months? Is there any limitations on that?

A:
No, it would not affect your ability to extend the coverage as long as the plan you purchase itself is extendable. So there is an option to choose whether the plan I bought is renewable, isn't there? Whether the renew of the plan should go through the medical provider underwritten, and there is no risk for renewing it and keeping the same materity care coverage as long as I choose "extendable"??? Thanks again. You have understood it wrong. You can extend the plan does not mean it will cover maternity. In fact, no short term plan covers maternity. Which specific insurance plan are you planning to purchase? Also, you have posted the question in the wrong forum. This forum is for long term insurance and you want short term insurance.

Q:Protection america vs. WorldMed vs. Visit USA Excellent site with lots of insight into the whole insurance process! my parents are visiting me next month mom to stay for 6 months and dad may leave after 2 months (or stay longer undecided). I am unable to decide between Protection america , Visit USA and world Med. From what I have read so far, they all seem to have good reviews and user experiences. 1. Protection america is administered by IMG while the other two are by AIG the AIG ones seem to have a A++ superior rating while the IMG one has A Excellent rating.. what is the difference 2. what is the role of a carrier Protection america Sirius, other two TIS which one is better 3. Protection america's rates are the best so far but it doesn't say if the deductible is once per poplicy period or per sickness.. same with the other two.. I wasn't sure how deductibles are applied. 4. My dad might need a blood test done once a month or two months ( he has arthritis) his doctor in india is willing to adjust his medication dosage based on these lab reports which we can email him. Now would these blood tests be covered Should I make sure I go to a lab in the PPO network 5. Protection america offers 'First health PPO' and World med offers the 'multiplan PPO' I couldn't find the PPO nw for Visit USA..which of these is best I live in FLower Mound Texas and work in the Irvinglewisville area of texas(all these are around Dallas). Thanks for all your help and advice. Neel.

A:
0. Administrator: /visitor-health-insurance/#administrator Carrier: /visitor-health-insurance/#carrier IMG is the administator while Sirius International is the carrier for Protection America. Claims are handled by IMG. TIS is the administrator while AIG is the carrier for Visit USA / World Med. Claims are handled by AIG. 1. As you can see at /visitor-health-insurance/#ambest AM Best is the overall rating of the insurance company. That does not represent the rating of the plan itself or IMG vs. TIS service. As long as any carrier is A and above, they are all good and you should not make any decision solely based on AM Best rating. If some company is C or D, you should worry about buying from them. 2. Look at answer 0. 3. Deductible is maximum per policy period (max. one per year) in all of them, Protection America, Visit USA, World Med. 4. No. No company will cover them. That will be considered as pre-existing conditions. 5. Protection America - First Health PPO /international-medical-ppo-network/ WorldMed - MultiPlan PPO /travel-and-student-insurance-ppo-network/ and Visit USA - MultiPlan PPO /travel-and-student-insurance-ppo-network/ Both are good networks. Generally there are more providers in First Health than in MultiPlan. That was a lot of good information..Thanks One other question I had was - since I need toget 6 months coverage for my mom and 2 months for my dad, should I fill in two applications separately? Yes, you should apply separately for each person. Even if they were coming for same duration, we always recommend everyone to do separate application for each person (except for minor kids). Read more about it in the FAQ at /guide/ Thank You first for helping us with medical insurance problem. My Dad is prone with diabetics. Can you please suggest any good medical insurance company that supports this pre-exsisting condition. I live in Texas. Your inputs will be so helpful. Thanks Again Laks Unfortunately, there is no insurance plan from any company any where that covers pre-existing conditions to visitors to USA.

Q:Inbound vs Visitor Care Hi; I am trying to choose insurance for my mom, she might stay for 3 months and possbily extend(I doubt that!!) She's 65 and has surgery done in october for fracture. I noticed the difference between deductables per incidence / per coverage between these 2 plans. Does that mean that deductable for every incidence applies for all procedures that means labtest will require deduction seperately from doctors visit when both procedures are required, or is it considered one common deduction for an incidence. Can you suggest among these 2 plans and are these plans upgradable.

A:
1. Deductible per incident means one deductible per sickness or per injury. Let's say you have fever this month. You go to doctor 2 times, go to pharmacy and get one lab test done. All of that is collectively considered as the expenses for 1 sickness. Therefore, you have to pay the deductible once for that sickness. Let's say you break your leg next month. That is another sickness/injury and another deductible applies. That means, one more deductible even if you visit doctor 10 times, prescription drugs 3 times or whatever other medical benefits mentioned in the brochure. 2. Both Inbound USA and Visitors Care are two similar plans from different companies and we offer both of them. By looking at the brochures, you already know the difference between those two. You can purchase according whichever one you are more comfortable with and the one that meets your needs better. 3. You can upgrade the plan from lower coverage to higher coverage later. Most people would like to upgrade the coverage when the get sick/injured and figure out that the plan that they have purchased is not enough and would like to upgrade to better plan. You have to cancel what you have and buy new insurance. And when you buy insurance, whatever problem that you are already having will be considered as pre-existing conditions and not covered at all in the new plan. That means, no coverage in new plan and you lost whatever little coverage you had in the earlier plan. I hope this answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. Is Visitor CAre renewable, if so whats the requirements for renewal, that is, is 3 months initial membership or 1 month. Also does the deductable accumulate, or is it refreshed with renewal 1. Yes, visitors care is renewal. You have to buy initially for minimum 1 month. After that, you can renew for as little as 5 days or any longer duration you desire. Insurance company $5 renewal fee every time in addition to the premium. 2. Deductible in Visitors Care is once per the policy period. Policy period is for however long you buy the insurance and pay for it at once. At renewal, the deductible starts over again as the new policy period starts again. Also, some of the benefits such as $250/policy period for prescription drugs also start over again.
