Q:I am getting ready to purchase insurance with your company. When reading the terms and conditions I was confused about the line saying "I request and authorize IMG to charge my credit card periodically as payment installments become due for premiums" At the payment step I am seeing a total charge of 345 dollars for a year of coverage. Will this be charged in monthly installments? Or does this mean there may be other charges that are not covered under the $345? Can I purchase insurance without authorizing future charges to my credit card?

A:
This statement under the terms and conditions is gives authorization to charge the card for the current premium. The Patriot International plan does not have an option for installment payments, however, IMG does have plan options that do which is why this information is mentioned in the terms and conditions. You are only charged the premium based on the dates you enter in the application. If you decide to renew the coverage, you will again have to re enter your payment information, and provide authorization. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Q:I'm traveling to the US to work with O-1 visa status. My wife (O-3) and my son are coming along. My son is a 4-month-old US citizen, as he was born in Miami last November. I'm looking for a trip/health insurance for the first 30 days of my stay in the US. I would like your help to select the one that best fit my family. We will be traveling to California and after the 30 day period my employer will be able to offer myself and my family coverage under their plan.

A:
For the individuals here an on O-1, and O-3 we would recommend the Atlas America plan for your first 30 days here in the U.S. Unfortunately, there are no short term plan options available for your son since he is a U.S. Citizen. You may view and purchase the Atlas America plan by clicking the link. You may also purchase over the phone by contacting our office at (866) INSUBUY. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I'd like to purchase Altas MedEvac (my institution provides health insurance). The website says, however, that "the insurance plan is not available for the entered age". My age is 51. Can you explain, or provide an alternative plan? . I am on a J-1 (but not a student, I am a researcher/professor)

A:
You can run a quote in the J1/J2 section /j1-visa-health-insurance/ and at the bottom is the fixed coverage plan (Visitors Secure) which would be the lower cost plan. At the time of purchase you can even adjust the policy max to $50,000 and that will lower the cost even more.
