Q: Hello, I have a question about medical insurance. I have a green card and my employer doesn't provide me with coverage. I heard about UsnetCare. It offers plans for those who have no US citizenship. Does anybody know how good and efficient it is???Or maybe somebody knows some other options???Anyway, I would be most thankful if somebody responded to my letter.

A:
It is misleading. Those products are NOT meant for those who have green card. You need to look at the Patriot America Plus plan

Q:IMG or Patriot America I am looking to take health insurance for my parents. After comparing numbers, I had planned to take Patriot America but want to have a quick suggestion. Do you suggest a 100,000 IMG Visitors care or a 50,000 Patriot America with an higher deductible (1000 or 2500), that way the premiums are comparable. I mean you can take care of a doctors visit or miscellaneous needs which is not a big problem (upto couple of thousands), the only big thing is if you need to be hospitalized Also I would like to take for 3 months and renew it depending on how long they want to stay here. I just want to make sure that the deductibles do not start again if I renew Thanks, Praveen

A:
Your thinking is correct. Among those 2 plans, I would recommend Patriot America with higher deductible. You can renew Patriot America as long as you purchase for minimum 3 months initially. After that you can renew for however long you like, minimum 5 days. No matter how many times you renew (with no gaps), deductible is annual, once in a year.

Q:Patriot America - What does "precertification requirement" mean? Hi, I just bought Patriot America visitor insurance for my 62 year old mom. The ID card says - "This coverage contains precertification requirements. Possesing this card does not guarentee coverage". What does this mean? Do I have to get some precertification to be eligible for coverage? Or does that mean I have to apply for precertification before getting any medical care/help in which case what should I do in case of emergencies? Somebody please explain Thanks in advance.

A:
1. Pre-certification: Read /international-medical-pre-certification/ 2. Possesing this card does not guarentee coverage >>>> That means that the provider may still need to verify that you have active coverage. You might have cancelled the insurance after getting this cards.

Q:getting protection america after 1 month of arrival I had taken WorldMed Lite about 6 weeks ago for my dad, it is still valid for another 10 weeks. Since the coverage for sickness is not good with worldmed lite, i want to take protection america now for 50K coverage . Digressing actually it will help if you could add a note somewhere that even if we go via the worldmed link (for nonlite, we will be taken to a common site for all plans of worldmed including lite) Coming back, since it has been more than a month, protection america mentions that it needs insurance proof for the first 6 weeks, will Worldmed lite be good enough proof How do i provide this to protection america can i still do it online (scanned copy or u could help me here pls) Btw, another question assuming i can get protection america if i use worldmed lite in the next 6 weeks & later have to do a second visit with protection america will that be considered preexisting in protection america, even though this is during the overlap period where we would have both plans active. Only reason i want to use worldmed during the overlap period is because the deductable will be lower in that. thanks

A:
1. Link and the contents of the application for WorldMed or WorldMed Lite are provided and maintained by the insurance company and I have no control over it. I will still send your suggestion to them. 2. You can buy Protection America now. In the online application, all you have to mention is the insurance company name (AIG) and the expiration date. You can do it online. No need to scan/mail anything. 3. WorldMed Lite and Protection America are two totally independent policies and there is no concept of upgrade or change to concept. In other words, there is no portability. Insurance company will cover whatever new medical conditions occur after the effective date of the respective policy. Therefore, in your case, as long as some condition occured after the effective date of Protection America, it should be covered, even if you didn't use that plan for first visit.

Q:Protection America vs. Liaison I compared the plans and looks like there are pros and cons on both sides - but both seem to be ok in general. If you have used either of these and have good or bad experiences with 'em, can you please post your experiences?

A:
Both are good plans. Just different companies.

Q:Changing Insurance provider I currently have purchase Protection America for my Mom and World med lite for my Dad & also have the careington dental coverage as per ur earlier suggestion. Here are my questions 1 a i bought Protection America (approx April 12th 2007), based on your suggestion last year for my inlaws. But looks like this year we have a cheaper plan with similar benefits in Patriot America. And reading ur posts & looking thru the brochure, the only difference seems to be the minimum time i need to purchase the insurace of 3 months for me to renew in latter. Didnt find any other differences, is that correct b Given the above is true, now can i cancel Protection America and get patriot america for 100K coverage Both seem to have IMG, can i simply switch by calling u or need to go thru the process of cancelling Protection and then getting Patriot online Pls let me know the procedure. c Any extra fees i got to pay here 2 a For my Dad i got World med (70+) on the same date, but i was in a hurry and didnt look carefully and got WorldMed lite since for 70+ age the max was anyways 100K in all plans. Now after i read it carefully it says the sickness max is 5000$ and Accident max is 100K. Now it is tricky to figure out what does 'sickness' cover could you please clarify thiis. For some emergencies sicknesses god forbid, will that still be in Accident, but simple coldcough skin allergies etc are under sickness How do we know what is sickness accident. b I am not able to decide if i should continue with Lite or shld get the Plan B instead. Pls give your input and also based on ur answer above, it will help me decide. c If i switch to plan B here from lite what would be the steps and catches Again any extra cancellation upgrade fees here Thank you.

A:
Also another question about worldmed 2> d> If my charges are say 300$ for one visit. if sickness: lite: i pay 75$ + 20%(225) = 125$ {since deductable is 75$ for sickness}. And 225$ is counted towards max 5000$ ? a/b: i pay 250$ deductable + 20%(50) = 260$. And only 50$ is counted towards 5000$ initial amount. if accident lite, a/b: 250$ deductable + 20%(50) = 260$ in all plans. 1a. That is the only difference. 1b and 1c. There is no switching. You will have to cancel Protection America and purchase Patriot America all over again. Cancellation policy in Protection America: As long as there are no claimed filed since the effective date, insurance company will refund fully unused months minus $25 cancellation fee. In order to cancel it, send an email to admin insubuy.com with the certificate number and date from when you would like to cancel it. Refund is a manual process and usually takes around 2 to 3 weeks. In order to purchase Patriot America, visit / as if you are buying it completely fresh. 2a. Sickness means cold, flu, fever, heart attack etc. Even if it is emergency sickness, it is still sickness and covered only up to $5000. 2b. Plan B is not available for 70+. You need to take either WorldMed Lite or WorldMed Plan A. 2c. After the effective date, there is no refund in WorldMed plans. You can buy it all over again. 2d. $300 is counted towards eligible medical expenses in all plans.
