Q:I am currently planning to obtain insurance coverage for my J1 visa duration, which will be for 2 years. I wanted to inquire if it is possible to pay for the insurance on a monthly basis rather than the entire duration at once. Could you please provide me with the necessary information and options available for monthly payment plans?

A:
Yes, most plans are extendable, so you would be able to purchase one month and then extend as necessary. Be advised that you will have to remember to extend the policy every month, you would not be able to set up automatic withdraws on the plans. If your school or organization has any additional insurance requirements or needs you to purchase for the full duration of your studies, please call our office at 1(866) INSUBUY (4678289).

Q:Can I make a claim if there is dangerous air quality due to smoke from forest fire nearby? Also, how many days before my trip can I purchase travel insurance?

A:
Coverage is plan specific. If you currently have a plan, the contact number for the claims department can be located on your ID card. You can contact the claims department to verify if there are any benefits with your plan that may be available and pertain to your specific situation. For Travel Medical insurance, it is advised to purchase any plan at least one day before travel. For Trip Cancelation insurance, we would advise to purchase as soon as you make your initial deposit on your trip. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:I just got a letter to sign and return to the German Consulate where I have to certify that " The insurance company must have an office in a Schengen state". The document is called "Declaration on Travel Health Insurance". Does your letter state this? Do you have an office in the Schengen state? Thanks

A:
If the German Consulate is requiring you to purchase a plan that has an office in a Schengen country, I would recommend purchasing the Atlas International plan. Worldtrips, the administrator of this plan, has an office in Spain which is shown on the Visa/Coverage Letter. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

A:
Yes, Atlas America will allow the insured to retain all the benefits they had at the time they purchased the policy, even if they change age groups in the middle of the policy. If you have any additional questions please let us know.
