Q:Query regd Inbound USA Hello, I am browsing through insurance plans at your website and I came across Inbound USA insurance plan. When I look at the page for Inbound pop network: /fixed-coverage-visitors-insurance-ppo-network/ I see following message: “Effective May 10, 2013, Inbound USA, Inbound Guest and Inbound Immigrant do NOT participate in any PPO network. So In case i need to find a service providers covered under this Inbound USA plan, which PPO network should I mention ?? Thanks,

A:
As Inbound USA does not participate in any PPO network, you can’t really mention any PPO network. Thank you for your reply. Is it possible to get the insurance for ‘Acute onset of pre-existing conditions’ ONLY, through Inbound USA or Visitor Secure or any other insurance companies via insubuy? Thanks, No. Visitors insurance is primarily for new medical conditions, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. Acute onset of pre-existing conditions coverage is added at no extra cost in several plans.

Q:Queries regarding your Patriot America product Greetings, I am looking to get travel/medical insurance for my mother and my father. We live in Mumbai, India and my parents want to visit my brother in Manhattan, New York. They plan to travel in the 3rd week of June. We are looking for a plan which has: 1) Deductible 0f $250 2) Cover of $100,000 My mother has some pre-existing diseases which needs to be covered under the insurance. Below is a list of pre-existing diseases she has: 1) Diabetes (Stable condition) 2) Heart Disease 3) Has undergone bypass surgery in year 2007 4) Currently on insulin 5) Currently on multiple heart medication including blood thinner and blood pressure 6) Suffers from diabetic foot (ulcers on both feet) Past History ---------------------- My mother had been to New York in October 2012 and unfortunately, fallen sick. She Was admitted in Metropolitan Hospital Centre which falls under the South Manhattan Healthcare network. However, she has not been hospitalized since then. I have gone through a few insurance product brochures and have a few questions regarding your product: 1) I see some products have sub-limits for each item like limits for ambulance, pharmacy, surgeon visits etc but do not see that in your product. Does that mean you do not have sub-limits? Is your product comprehensive or fixed? 2) I saw limits for Hospital Indemnity as 100$ per night in your product. I did not understand this. Please could you explain this in a little more detail. 3) How do I know which hospital, regardless of it being in your PPO network or not, will bill directly to the insurance company? I do not want to first pay cash to get medical attention. 4) I read that to receive benefits, pre-ceritification is required for hospitalization, surgery, emergency medical evacuations, CT scans and MRIs. However, it also says that pre-certification does not guarantee benefits. what does this mean? Appreciate your cooperation. We are looking to buy an insurance cover asap. Regards

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Before we suggest any plan would like to know their age, travel duration. Once we get these information will be glad to answer all your questions. Greetings, Thank you for your email. Mother: 57 yrs Father: 61 yrs They plan to travel for 3 months or under 90 days from the 4th week of June. Thanks Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance for your parents. Please note there is no visitors insurance product available anywhere in the market that would cover all expenses related to pre-existing conditions. Some of the plans cover acute onset of pre-existing conditions up to some amount under some circumstances. Please read the following articles to understand that better. /visitor-medical-insurance-pre-existing-conditions/ /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ /visitors-insurance-usa-heart-attack-coverage/ 1. We offer both fixed and comprehensive coverage plans. Please look at /visitor-insurance/ You will see two separately marked sections: Fixed and Comprehensive. You have not specified which specific product you are looking at. However, if you are looking at the plan with $250 deductible, that must be comprehensive plan because no fixed coverage plan has $250 deductible. 2. Please look at /visitor-health-insurance/#indemnity That is for other additional expenses such as food, telephone, taxi etc. 3. We offer several different visitors insurance plans. Some of them participate in PPO network while others don’t. The ones that participate in the PPO network has a link next to it that says something like “Direct Billing: Through _______ Network”. You can look at /visitor-insurance/ and search for the participating providers in a given area. 4. Pre-certification simply means that informing the insurance company about certain procedures you are going to get done. Whether a particular expense is covered or not can only be determined when the provider sends all the medical records to the claims department and not in advance. Please read various articles about Claims Process at /guide/ I hope that answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. I just noticed that you have specified the product name in the subject line. Therefore, I will try to answer your questions again. Patriot America covers sudden and unexpected recurrence of pre-existing conditions up to $50,000 for people below the age of 65 years. Please read /patriot-america-lite-insurance/ for further information. 1. Yes, Patriot America is a comprehensive coverage. 2. Same answer. 3. Patriot America participates in Coventry/First Health PPO network. You can search for the providers in your area at /international-medical-ppo-network/ Please read /what-is-visitors-insurance/ and /international-travel-insurance/ for further information. 4. Same answer. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Thank you for your email. However, I have a few more questions: 1) In your previous email, you said that there is no insurance product in the market, which will cover pre-existing conditions. However, your product will cover acute onset of pre-existing conditions. I have gone through the links you sent but just want to confirm. Am I right in thinking that my mother will not get any heart or diabetes treatment or insulin expense but if there is an immediate need for medical attention like an infection in her existing ulcers in her feet or because of her any pre-existing conditions, that medical expenditure will be covered by your product? 2) The $250 deductible I mentioned is just a ballpark figure. I am flexible if I am able to get a good comprehensive insurance. 3) You mentioned that your product is comprehensive. Does that mean there are no sub-limits for each medical expense? I read in one of the products that it will pay only $200 for pharmacy. If, God forbid, the medication needed is $2000 because of an acute on-set of a pre-existing condition, would that be covered by your product? Appreciate your reply. Thanks 1. Patriot America will cover sudden an unexpected recurrence of pre-existing conditions. It is not possible to give any more specific answer in advance until it actually happens as each case is unique. 2. Patriot America provides the deductible choices of $0, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or $2,500. 3. That is correct. Patriot America does not have sub-limits for each medical expenses. There is no $200 limit for pharmacy for eligible claims. Please look at the brochure at /patriot-america-lite/visitor-insurance/ and the certificate wording at /patriot-america-lite/travel-medical-insurance/ If you see any such limit, please let me know as I didn’t see. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Thank you for your email. It has answered almost all of my queries. However, I do have one more: Another concern I have is direct billing. Parents are going to be residing in the zip code 10128. I have searched for the hospitals in the link you gave but none of the hospitals I looked for, show the link 'Direct billing'. This is one of my biggest concerns. If, god forbid, the bill is $50,000, then I do not have $50,000 to pay upfront and then make a claim for it. Is there are solution for this? Many thanks Hospitals in the PPO network are direct billing. I have never seen any hospital demanding upfront payment like you mentioned. Most people in the US don’t have $500 cash with them, let alone $50,000. In other words, the link I sent you is not a simple Yellow Pages or Google search of hospitals or other providers. That is the list of providers that have contracted with the First Health PPO network, bill the insurance company directly and charge only the network negotiated fees. In Indian terms, providers in the PPO network provide cashless treatment. /cashless-visitors-insurance/ If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q:Atlas America - Side trip insurance I hope you are doing well. You had helped me tremendously last year in getting my father’s claim resolved through HCCMIS (Atlas America Plan) and I am forever grateful for that. The e-mail chain below might refresh your recollection. My parents are visiting me once again this summer for about 3 months, and as usual I am in the process of purchasing a comprehensive plan ($1 million) through the Insubuy website. My parents are 67 and 65 I had a question: Atlas America Plan (HCCMIS) as well as Liaison Continent A (Seven Corners) plan both seem to have similar coverage. Liaison seems to participate in Multiplan PPO and Atlas America appears to participate in First Health Coventry as well as Multiplan PPOs(looking at my father’s ID from last year). These two plans also appear to cover around $100K for cute onset of preexisting conditions for people less than 70 years of age. The premiums are pretty much the same – around $920 or so for 3 months. Which one would you recommend? Atlas is obviously a known quantity to me from last year and they did settle the claims (with your help) and we did not have to pay anything other than the $250 deductible. Should I just stick to Atlas America? Let me know what you think. Thanks a lot for your time. Thanks, P.S. They will also be traveling to Canada with us for a week on a side-trip.

A:
Thank you for contacting me again. I definitely remember you very well. That’s no problem. It will cover anywhere outside the home country. At $1 million policy maximum, Liaison Continent covers acute onset of pre-existing conditions up to $150,000 for the persons below the age of 70 years while Atlas still covers at $100,000. Therefore, it would be beneficial to go for Liaison Continent in this case. Atlas America now participates in First Health Coventry and nothing else. You can purchase Liaison Continent online at /safe-travels-usa-comprehensive-insurance/ Please let me know if you have any other questions. One other question. Based on my past experience, Atlas America appears to cover 100% (after deductible) when within the PPO network and billed directly. Liaison Continent A appears to be always 80/20, is that right? Is the Multiplan PPO network larger than First Health/Coventry? Thanks, 1. That is correct. 2. There is nothing like that. While the number of results may vary based on a specific criteria entered, it would work out to be either way. Therefore, I would not make any decisions based on that.

Q:Acute on set Pre existing Condition Hello, Also, can you please elaborate the term "Acute on set Pre existing Condition" ? What that means and how it works? Thanks,

A:
Hello, An acute onset is a life threatening emergency that occurs without any advanced warning or symptoms and the treatment must be taken within 24 hours. Please see the link to the Acute Onset FAQ below: /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ If you have any further questions, please contact us. Hello, Thank you very much, I have gone through the link provided. I am all clear except, have following doubt based on situation my family member has. My father had partial seizures in November 2012. He is taking anti epileptic medications currently. He is doing good and planning to visit my place. By any chance (I hope that wouldn't be the case, praying to god), if he will have stroke during his visit to USA, will that be fall into "An acute onset Pre existing Condition"? Thank you, For any given situation, it is not possible to tell with certainty in advance whether it will be ‘acute onset of pre-existing condition’ or not as each case is unique and the determination can only be made after it happens. Hello, I got that from the link and that is the only reason i described situation. Based on that, can i have some information? Our answer still remains the same. For any given situation, it is not possible to tell with certainty in advance whether it will be ‘acute onset of pre-existing condition’ or not as each case is unique and the determination can only be made after it happens.

Q:Comparison of Insurance for Parents Hi, I need to purchase medical insurance for my parents. Brief about my parents: • Father: 64 years. Healthy. Minor Cardio /Urological problems before. Not on any regular medication. • Mother: 61 years. Has back pain due to osteoporosis (severe at times). On regular medication for bone decay prevention. They are coming to US on May 7, 2014. I shortlisted the following: • Liaison Continent â€" Plan A ($1720 for 180 days for 2 people in 60-64 age range in Ohio) • Patriot America ($1593 for same coverage) • Patriot America has the advantage of being cheaper to buy and also lesser copayment (10% for first $5000 â€" compared to 20% for Liaison) I understand that only thing that these insurance would cover are: • Acute onset of pre-existing conditions • Any NEW conditions (accidents etc) Questions I had for you: • To me it seems that Liaison Continent has better coverage of doctors than Patriot America (via their respective PPO network). Can you please confirm if this is true? • Which one would you personally recommend based on your years of experience? • Are the rates quoted on your website final â€" or there are promo codes etc that I can apply to get a discount? You must be aware that your rates are slightly higher than *.com Please let me know at the earliest â€" as I would like to purchase it today itself. Regards,

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance for your parents. Please note that the insurance prices are regulated by the law and for exactly the same coverage, no one can offer any different price. It can’t be a penny higher or lower. There is never any concept of any discount. Even if I buy for my parents 10 times, I will have to pay the same price as you. Including Insubuy, there are various insurance aggregators who have made their own quoting engine using the rates given by respective insurance companies. I can’t comment about others but it is certainly possible that other agents’ rates are not up to date or they are not sure of how to calculate the duration/rates properly or some of them may have rounding errors. However, please note that when you decide to purchase a specific plan, we all use the online application given by respective insurance companies (which is the same no matter what agent) and the rate quoted by them is the final rate that you end up paying, irrespective of any web site like ours show. And I am confident that our web site is accurate. If could you kindly call me directly and give me the exact criteria that you entered, I would be glad to do the manual calculation for you and show you where the difference is coming from. Please be assured that no one can offer you any lower price for the same insurance. I look forward to hear from you soon. I did the calculation on the following criteria on both web sites and found an identical price. Age: 60-64 Spouse Age: 60-64 Coverage Dates: 05/07/2014 to 11/02/2014 (180 days) Policy: $50,000 per person Deductible: $250 per person Liaison Continent A: $1,720.80 (both web sites) Patriot America: $1,593.00 (both web sites) Therefore, could you kindly let me know what discrepancy are you seeing? I put the criteria on both web sites and see identical prices. The screen shots are attached herewith. Therefore, I am confused about different prices. I would appreciate you pointing out the difference, when you get a chance. As we are open 7 days a week and we always provide the best service to our customers and remain on your side when you need it, I sincerely request you to purchase the insurance from your web site at https://www.insubuy.com I realized what caused the difference: I had used 179 days for *.com (excluded one day during flight – please see attached) vis-Ã -vis 180 days for Insubuy. Appreciate your effort in showing me that they are the same for the same duration! Regards, Thank you for letting me know. I am glad that it got resolved. I checked again on our web site for 179 days and the prices are the same that you attached. Please let me know if there is anything else we can help you with.
