Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. While the plans do not cover pre-existing conditions, most plans include coverage for the Acute Onset of pre-existing conditions for visitors under the age of 70. For more information on the Acute onset benefit click here. The plans we would recommend that include the Acute onset benefit up to age 69 are the Atlas America and Patriot America Plus. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I am an international student with J-1 visa who is about to graduate in the middle of December. I have a student insurance from my school until December 31st, but will need short-term insurance for Jan 1st to Jan 10th. In addition: - My J-1 visa and DS2019 are expiring on 12/16/2016. The date I need the short-term insurance for will be during the 30-day grace period - I do have pre-existing conditions If you can recommend a plan that will satisfy the above as well as the J1 requirements, please let me know. Also, please note that while I have pre-existing conditions, I don't think I will need to use the coverage. Therefore, any plans that will accept my application but exclude the coverage on my preexisting conditions will be fine by me.

A:
You can purchase Atlas America plan. Which covers new sickness, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. There will not be any coverage for routine maintenance for the pre-existing conditions. However, it provides coverage for acute onset of pre-existing. Please find more information at Acute Onset of Pre-existing Conditions. Please review this plan and feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
