Q:Travel Insurance for Trip to the USA from India I am now in Bangalore, leaving for USA on the 23rd of this month along with my wife aged 63 years and daughter aged 29 years. My date of birth is 14 Oct 1945. I have diabetes and blood pressure. I am first going to Maryland to my son and then going to various places like Orlando, Las Vegas, San Francisco and New York. Can you suggest a policy which is not too expensive and also How do I pay from India. Because that is what I would like to do

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. As long as you purchase prior to arriving in the state of MD then you can purchase the Atlas America plan. You will purchase the plan separately for you, your wife, and your daughter. While there is no plan for visitors that will cover any pre-existing conditions the Atlas America plan will cover the Acute onset of a pre-existing condition for your wife and daughter. Recently we have a new Safe Travel USA Comprehensive coverage plan that covers acute onset of pre-existing for age 70+ also. Q:Atlas America Pre-Existing Conditions Coverage Insurance Does this policy covers pre-condition as High blood pressure for the visitor who are at the age of 56.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy. There is no short term health insurance plan for visitors which will cover pre-existing conditions, routine doctors’ visits, immunizations or medications in relation to a pre-existing condition. The Atlas America plan has a benefit called the acute onset of pre-existing condition coverage for anyone under the age of 70 . If there is a sudden an unexpected occurrence, something that occurs without advance warning and requires emergency care, and the treatment must be obtained within 24 hours. I have also included a link below which contains frequently asked questions in regards to this benefit. If you have any additional questions please let us know. FAQ Acute Onset of Pre-existing conditions: /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ Hello, I am looking at buying a health insurance for my dad who is travelling to the US for 3months. He's diabetic, hypertensive, has had a heart attack two years back but no stents were put as it was deemed not necessary and was treated medically using injections that removed the block and has been on heart medication since. He's not had any symptoms in the past two years like Angina or chest pain, breathlessness etc. My question is if he requires medical attention while in the US for an angina or any heart related stuff. Would it fall under "Acute onset of pre-existing condition" or would this be termed chronic? Thank you There is no one way to answer for sure. It could go either way.

Q:Maryland Renewal Atlas America Hello, I have bought insurance a few times before for my parents from you. I live in Maryland - and the new requirements are a little confusing. I am looking at the Atlas Comprehensive plans. I understand the part that says that if the parents are already in the US, you cannot buy this plan, My parents are not here yet. My question is about renewals - they will be here for 6 months and I would like to buy this in 3 month increments. Will this Maryland requirement cause a problem with the renewal i.e. if I buy now for 3 months (prior to their arrival), when I try to renew, will there be an issue as at that point, they will already be here in Maryland. Should I just buy it for 6 months right now ?

A:
As long as you purchase the policy before they arrive, then you would be able to renew it as needed. So you could purchase it for 2 or 3 months and then renew it before the expiration date. However, if the policy were to lapse/ expire and was not renewed on time, then at that point you would not be able to re-purchase. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Q:I am a fifth year PhD student at the Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, USA) and I live and work in the UK. I am due to defend my doctoral dissertation in October and I will have to go back to Baltimore for no more than a week at some point between Monday, October 17th and Friday, October 28th. My University requires me to have an appropriate health insurance for the entire duration of my stay in the US. Such coverage has to comply with all the following criteria: 1. Covers each illness/injury to a life time maximum of at least U.S. $1,000,000.00. 2. Provides some coverage for prescription medications. 3. Allows you to visit U.S.Doctors. 4. Provides UNLIMITED evacuation/repatriation benefits. 5. Provides coverage for mental health illness. 6. Must be underwritten by an insurance corporation having an A.M. Best rating of "A-" or above, an Insurance Solvency International, Ltd. (ISI) rating of "A-" or above, a Standard and Poor's Claims-paying Ability rating of "A" or above, A Weiss Research, Inc. rating of B+ or above. 7. May not be a policy that requires you to pay for all medical expenses in advance and then reimburses you for these expenses. 8. Must have a U.S. contact address and telephone number. 9.The key policy criteria above must be available in English for review. Do you offer a coverage that may meet all these criteria either for a period of two weeks (17-28 of October) or for the entire month of October?

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Unfortunately, we don't have any plan that meets all of your school requirements.

Q:PPO network / Pre-Existing Conditions I am looking for a comprehensive insurance that covers acute on-set of pre-existing conditions and found - Atlas America, Patriot America Plus, patriot America, Atlas Essential America, Atlas Premium America. All of these say “in PPO, do these cover non-PPO hospitals/doctors too?

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Not all of the plans you have listed cover the Acute Onset of the pre-existing condition. For example, Patriot America and Atlas Essential America do not offer coverage for the Acute Onset. To answer your question, you are covered in or out of network with any of these plans. It is not required to only go to an in-network provider. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office. Is there any plan for 70+ acute on-set of pre-existing conditions? Q:Request for International Supplemental Coverage Dear Sir \ Madame, My boss is looking for an international supplemental coverage. In USA, he has Medicare that fully covers him in US but he would like to have an international coverage as well. I would appreciate if you offer International Supplemental coverage for my boss.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. We have many plans that provide him coverage outside USA. But before we suggest any plan would like to his age, home country and how long he needs coverage. Once, we get these information will be glad to suggest you some insurance plan accordingly. Meantime, You can visit our website at, /travel-health-insurance/ Please enter appropriate criteria. You will find many plans and you can also compare them side by side. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us. Date of birth 23 Sep 1949 Home country: USA Length of coverage: 1year He used to have corporate insurance plan with Aetna global but now we are looking for private international insurance for him. Thank you for your quick reply. You can purchase Patriot International plan for him. Patriot International brochure, instant purchase and other useful information, /patriot-international-lite-insurance/ You can compare these plans at, /travel-health-insurance/ If you have any further questions feel free to contact us. I requested more information from my boss on what he wants to have in terms of international insurance. Below is his email re international insurance. "Ideally, the non-USA coverage should provide the same benefits as Aetna does globally. Some examples: broad coverage of doctor visits, hospitalization, lab analysis and maybe prescription drugs. Annual deductible not to exceed, say, $2,000 and co-pay, if any not to exceed 20% above the deductible. Hospitalization (semi private room) would be 100% covered although the extra cost of a private room would be covered by me." I will very much appreciate your advice. The plans previously mentioned are not going to provide the same benefits as Aetna does as far as pre-existing conditions are concerned. If that type of coverage is what you are looking for then we have a plan called Voyager Choice. The Voyager Choice plan is limited to 180 days per trip so is not going to provide the duration you are requesting. The plans previously offered will provide coverage for any new illness or injury that occur after the effective date and are available for the duration you are requesting. Since you choose the deductible then that is not a factor and the plans will then pay 100%. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.
