Q:Au pair international Insurance I am currently an Au Pair here in America and looking to stay in America for a few more days before I leave back to South Africa. My contract and insurance expires the 4th May, but my VISA only expires in June. On the 4th May, I would have been in America for 12 months. I read that the insurance needs to be effective before the 12 month period. How long before? Can I just get the insurance for the 3rd May to the 17th May (When I plan to leave the United States)? I hope my email is clear enough, that you understand. Looking forward to your response.

Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. What insurance do you currently have? Depending on the type of insurance you currently have will determine which plan you will be eligible for. Most plans are available to purchase for the number of days needed. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office. I am covered by the Cultural Insurance Services International - which is part of the First Health Network. I have a medical coverage of $100,000 with a deductible of $50. Since you will only need the plan for a short time before returning home I recommend the Atlas America Plan. Q:Au pair international Insurance I’m from Portugal. I’m planning on going to the US on a Au pair program, for at least 1 year. I have a pre-existing illness on my thyroid and I need to do some blood test (TSH) to make sure that the levels are stable. The health insurance from the Au pair program does not cover this kind of blood tests, so I need and extra health insurance. I would like to know what kind of insurance your company would recommend and the cost of the insurance, please.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Unfortunately there is no insurance that covers routine maintenance for the pre-existing conditions. You have to pay from your pocket. Q:J1 and maternity I have a client which will come to work for a university in August, in Illinois. Ages are 31, 34 and 1 child age 4. They need it for about 2 months, until they get the group plan from the university. They wanted to get maternity coverage, in case that they need it. I could not see plans when selected the maternity option. Please advice

A:
If the individual is already pregnant there is not a plan that will cover her. Conception will have to happen after the effective date some plans require at least 90 days after policy start date. The J1 will of course have to be on the policy for the J2 to receive coverage . Review the Study USA and the Student Health Advantage plans for coverage if she is not already pregnant.

Q:Parents visiting USA with Pre-existing condition I came across your email address while looking up options for medical insurance for my parents who plan to visit the US from Sept 15 to Nov 17 this year. My father will turn 69 tomorrow and is a diabetic with high blood pressure, both of which are under control as of now. He underwent a carotid endarterectomy last year and has been asymptomatic ever since. My mother will turn 62 in December. She underwent heart surgery this past Jan for an aortic dissection and has been asymptomatic as well. She was taking medication for high blood pressure prior to her aortic dissection. Their family doctor has cleared them for all travel. I would like to err on the side of caution and prefer a comprehensive plan. Given these situations, what product would you recommend?

A:
Thank you for your inquiry. Insurance will not pay for any routine dr. visit for the existing condition. But most of the plan covers acute onset of pre-existing conditions up to policy max you choose. More information on acute onset of pre-ex, /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ /visitors-insurance-usa-heart-attack-coverage/ You can purchase either Patriot America plus or Atlas America plan. Atlas America brochure, instant purchase link, /atlasamerica-insurance/ Patriot America plus brochure, instant purchase link, /patriot-america-plus-insurance/ You can compare these plans at www.insubuy.com Please feel free to contact our office if you have any further questions.
