Q:My wife and I are new permanent residents. We're Australians but we're relocating and will have our permanent address in the USA from February 18th of this year. Are we eligible for any of your products?

A:
There are plans your family may be eligible for in the New Immigrant section as long as you are not eligible for a long term domestic plan. The short term plans she is eligible for will cover any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date. They will not cover any pre-existing conditions, preventative care, or routine maintenance. These plans are available only until you are eligible for a domestic insurance plan.

Q:I am thinking to get the International Major Medical Insurance plan. I am a Greencard holder and my job does not offer employer insurance. - If I go to the doctor for a regular checkup. How much is the deductible - How much do you cover on prescriptions? - Do you cover the birth control pill? If so, is it a 100% that is covered or is it a different percentage? - What is the deductible in case of surgery? - What is the deductible in case of emergency room? - Do you have a specific network of hospitals that I need to go to? If so, where can I check which ones are the closest to me? - Do you cover dental as well?

A:
Being new immigrant there is only one plan which provides coverage with co-insurance that is International Major medical plan or short term medical plan. 1. Deductible is the amount you pay first before insurance pay anything. You can choose deductible higher or lower. 2. Under international major medical plan $500. 3. Not covered. 4. Same as any other sickness 5. Same as any other sickness/ injuries 6. Under International major medical there is no PPO. You can visit any provider. 7. This is your medical insurance it does not cover dental. If you get into accident then covers up to policy max. You can look for short term domestic insurance which will have ppo network.

Q:I am looking into buying travel medical insurance for my girlfriend on our trip to Thailand. She's a citizen of the Philippines but is working and living in Bahrain. I was wondering if we put Bahrain or the Philippines as her home country when purchasing the insurance?

A:
Although your girlfriend is a citizen of Thailand she is working and living in Bahrain so Bahrain would be considered her home country as this is where she would receive mail and has established residence.
