Q:My spouse is working as a teacher in San Francisco on J1 visa and her insurance is covered by her employer. As I want to buy Insurance policy for J2 (dependent) as per the requirement of Insurance regulations. May I request you to help me to suggest the policy which covers the standard insurance cover requirements for J2 (dependent) visa holder. I would like insurance cover from 01/01/2020 to 06/30/2020. Kindly see the note below, issued by our sponsor CHF covers you and your family dependents ONLY for repatriation and medical evacuation. You or the school must purchase: 1) Medical Benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness with 2) Deductible not exceeding $500 per accident / illness Would appreciate, if you could inform me that, the policy you will suggesting, would cover the above feature( 1 & 2). How much I have to pay as insurance cover for the period above i.e. from 01/01/2020 to 06/30/2020 ?

Q:I would like to buy health insurance (Patriot platinum, comprehensive) for me (US citizen - naturalized) and my family (spouse - will have a green card/permanent residency soon, citizen of Lithuania and my stepson citizen of Lithuania but waiting for the permanent residency card to be issued). When I do online eligibility check, looks like I can buy health insurance for all three of us but when I read "geographic restrictions" then ineligible home country is US, which is very confusing because the system allows to input "citizenship USA" and continue to purchase. My current employer offered a very expensive family health insurance that we cannot really afford so I am looking at other alternatives. Please explain whether we all are eligible for Patriot platinum comprehensive health insurance in the US.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. We would recommend purchasing the employers insurance, but there is a plan you may have in the meantime. You may purchase the National General plan. This is a short term plan that will provide coverage for new illnesses, injuries or accidents which occur after the effective date of the policy. It will not cover pre-existing conditions, routine doctors' visits, or preventative treatments.

Q:I would like to ask you about medical insurance for my spouse and my son. I am an International Military Student and I have visa A2 (diplomatic). I need pregnancy care insurance for my spouse as well because it is a requirement of USG.

A:
Unfortunately, there are no short term plan options available on the market that will provide maternity coverage. In the event you are eligible to purchase domestic insurance such as through an employer, then that plan will provide maternity coverage. Please let us know if you have any additional questions, or concerns.
