Q:Myself and my children are US Citizens residing abroad. We want to return to the US to visit family and need to purchase medical insurance for the visit. However, my 6 year-old daughter is a type 1 diabetic. Will the Patriot America Plus plan cover her if she becomes hospitalized due to complications with her condition?

A:
The Patriot America Plus plan could offer such coverage under its acute onset of pre-existing condition coverage, however it would be determined at the time of service based on the attending physician notes and lab report. You may read more about the acute onset benefit on our FAQs page. Keep in mind visitor medical insurance plans exclude pre-existing conditions, preventative and routine. The plans will include coverage for the new illnesses and injuries contracted after their effective date. Should you have additional questions or need further assistance please let us know. Q:My husband and I are traveling to Mexico for vacation. We would like to purchase the Quarantine coverage just in case one of us tests positive when we are set to return to the United States. How does it work if only one of us tests positive for COVID? We would both stay in Mexico as we would not leave the other there alone.

A:
Typically the trip delay benefits would be used for the individual effected, however the other individual would have to pay out of pocket for their expenses as they were cleared to travel.
