Q:I am wishing to purchase medical insurance for my 18 year old daughter who will be moving from Australia to Iowa, USA to study and play college football. Can you pls advise me on which policies you have available that will cover this? We wish to start the insurance on July 27 and take until either 26 December or for one year. the college does not have any specific insurance requirements. We would want a policy that covers athletic injuries though. The college does have some coverage if there is an injury during games or practice.

A:
Since there are no requirements then you can review the plans on our International Student Insurance section. Some plans do include coverage up to $5000 for Intercollegiate, interscholastic, intramural, or club sports. One such plan is the Student Secure Select . You can click on plan benefits for any plan you are interested in to see what the plan offers for sports.

Q:I am an international student who recently graduated. Thus far, I have been on my university insurance -- which will soon expire. I am contacting you to ask about the best insurance plan for me. I am no longer eligible for a student plan (having graduated). But, as I am still waiting to hear back from the USCIS regarding my OPT application I am also not eligible for an employee or OPT plan (since I do not have my OPT form yet). From my perusal of the plan options, I need some form of short-term plan that is also ACA compliant (since I may have to remain on this plan for a month or two). So, I need short-term, ACA compliant insurance for someone on an F1 visa. Do you have any suggestions as to which plan is best for me?

A:
There is no short term ACA plan exist. It's only long term plan. You can purchase OPT medical insurance from our website as long as you are on F1 visa. Those plans are not ACA Compliant plan. Please enter appropriate criteria. You will find many plans and you can also compare them side by side.

Q:Hello, I'm a current F1 visa holder starting my OPT period and seeking health insurance quotes that are similar to my current plan from United Healthcare Student Resources. Thanks!

A:
Group insurance works totally different than individual short term insurance. You can purchase OPT insurance as long as you are on F visa and not eligible to purchase employer insurance. You can enroll for domestic insurance during enrollment period which will starts from next year. Please visit our OPT insurance section.
