Q:I previously purchased Major Medical insurance offered by Petersen International through insubuy. Since that time my status in the US changed. I purchased the insurance plan when I was a student on F-1 visa. I recently became a permanent resident in the US. Do you offer any plans for permanent residents that I can switch to? I can purchase insurance through my employer, but I wanted to check with you first to see if there were other options available.

A:
If you are eligible for domestic insurance, that would make you in-eligible for our plans. If you were to enroll into one of our plans and be eligible for domestic insurance, any claims filed would be denied. If you are eligible for domestic insurance, you would need to enroll into it. Open enrollment is going on now through the deadline date of Dec. 15th. You would have to contact them by Dec 15th to be able to get a plan for 2020. International Major Medical

Q:https://uttyler.myahpcare.com/waiver I am an international student that is required to purchase a mandatory insurance plan from my university, but that plan is very expensive and I can't afford it. I am looking for a cheaper insurance plan that meets or exceeds the requirements laid out by UT Tyler. Please visit the URL above and provide me with a plan that provides the most health benefits at most reasonable price possible.

A:
Thank you for contact Insubuy. Unfortunately, there are no plans available to meet your University's requirements. Your University is requiring an Affordable Care Act Compliant plan. We would recommend purchasing from your University directly.

A:

Q:I would like to buy health insurance (Patriot platinum, comprehensive) for me (US citizen - naturalized) and my family (spouse - will have a green card/permanent residency soon, citizen of Lithuania and my stepson citizen of Lithuania but waiting for the permanent residency card to be issued). When I do online eligibility check, looks like I can buy health insurance for all three of us but when I read "geographic restrictions" then ineligible home country is US, which is very confusing because the system allows to input "citizenship USA" and continue to purchase. My current employer offered a very expensive family health insurance that we cannot really afford so I am looking at other alternatives. Please explain whether we all are eligible for Patriot platinum comprehensive health insurance in the US.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. We would recommend purchasing the employers insurance, but there is a plan you may have in the meantime. You may purchase the National General plan. This is a short term plan that will provide coverage for new illnesses, injuries or accidents which occur after the effective date of the policy. It will not cover pre-existing conditions, routine doctors' visits, or preventative treatments.

Q:I would like to ask you about medical insurance for my spouse and my son. I am an International Military Student and I have visa A2 (diplomatic). I need pregnancy care insurance for my spouse as well because it is a requirement of USG.

A:
Unfortunately, there are no short term plan options available on the market that will provide maternity coverage. In the event you are eligible to purchase domestic insurance such as through an employer, then that plan will provide maternity coverage. Please let us know if you have any additional questions, or concerns.
